Cops plead not guilty in toilet rape case

2012-08-01 11:48

Cape Town - Three police officers and a clerk have pleaded not guilty to charges relating to the rape of a woman in a Cape Town police station toilet, it was reported on Wednesday.

The Cape Times reported that Theodore Syster, Jaede Fillies, Beverly Carelse and Theo van Wyk made the plea in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.

The State alleged that on 15 June 2010, Syster raped the woman in the Elsies River police station toilet after he and Fillies "kidnapped" her and her boyfriend.

Fillies allegedly filmed some of the incident on his cellphone.

The woman's boyfriend, who was married to another woman, on Tuesday told the court they were kissing in a dark, quiet place in Viking Park when an unmarked car pulled up. Two officers took his girlfriend away in their car, with him following behind.

According to the report, he was held in a cell and eventually released. He was told his girlfriend would be dropped off later at home.

He said his girlfriend told him the next day she had been raped by Syster.

Syster and Fillies each face seven charges, Van Wyk three and Carelse two.

Lock them up for life. and make sure they are not put on special leave with pay.

They should and will be presumed innocent until proven guilty so they have to recieve the salary and set free on bail or a warning to appear in court.Once found guilty and sentenced then you can throw the key in the dustbin.

    Please Vote DA !!!!!!!!!!!

    castrate all rapists

      ally.oh.7 - 2012-08-01 14:57

... and that will make them more aggressive and far more prone to take revenge on society. Rape has very little to do with sex (or whatever body part is removed in castration). Rape is an expression of dominance, power, arrogance. It has to do with an unstable mind, therefore all rapists should be beheaded -- that would eliminate them permanently.

how would voting DA change things?

      gavin.lott.9 - 2012-08-01 12:23

ANC government run the police !..did you not know that?

      jacque.raymer - 2012-08-01 12:59

Seriously, you even need to ask such a stupid question ? I'm sorry, but the ANC has had almost 20 years, and all they have done was make everything 50 times worse. Their own people are suffering, country is broke, police, health, education systems are f@cked almost beyond repair, crime and corruption is off the scale, Government is on a spending spree, and o yes, less than 5% of our municipalities made a clean audit this year, less than 5% ... HOW CAN YOU STILL WANT TO VOTE ANC ?

      julie.j.vanrensburg - 2012-08-01 13:18

@Sizwe.Mkhize, during the previous regime there was also crime, but certainly NOT on the grand scale of today - in those far-off days policemen were still well-trained and did what they were paid to do - FIGHT CRIME. Oh, sure, the odd cop also committed crime, but he was very soon brought to book and FIRED - NOT suspended with full pay as is the case now. In those far-off days my kids could still walk safely to school, to the beach, walk around town in the evenings, window-shopping, without fear of being mugged or molested in any way. People did not need to secure their homes with electric fences, high walls, fierce guard dogs, security guards - need I go on? And what about AIDS-infested characters raping little children because they were told that they would be cured of the disease by having sex with virgins... And by voting DA, QUALIFIED people would once again sort out the mess the ANC has created and bring back law and order - something that is non-existent right now. Go do your homework and learn what it means to have a smooth-running administration under competent people - not this present crowd of morons...

Oo no Shame on these idiotic cop-rapists instead of being examplary.Jail them and throw the key into Indian Ocean

  • zama.gausi - 2012-08-01 12:19

    Thought you safe!!

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-08-01 12:24

In the meantime, crooks, rapists and murderers were out looking for easy victims while this was going on. I thought that decency was compulsive in the police force?. Apparently not.

  • roy.wadhams.1 - 2012-08-01 12:25

If this is true then one must ask if this is why these types join the Police force. They are using their uniforms to do all sorts of criminal acts and should be caught and suffer the consequences.

  • sifiso.msimango - 2012-08-01 12:27

THANKS GOD,they are not black for a change

      siphiwo.spitch - 2012-08-01 13:03

Ya neh...This goes to show that crime has no race.

      zambezi.river - 2012-08-01 13:34

It wud have been barbaric if it was black!

  • cj.venter - 2012-08-01 12:34

GOOD GOD, wtf is going on in this world of ours?

  • Ntsikelelo Shwayimba - 2012-08-01 12:48

Even DA when they rule they will take over the police force & the same insanity wud continue, its not ANC 2 b blamed when people become perverts.

      corne.coetzee.92 - 2012-08-01 13:47

ANC can well be blamed for not taking strong action against the corrupt officials. Doubt whether DA would just "redeploy" offenders. Biggest problem with the ANC is the lack of accountability. PEOPLE DON'T MIND THE COLOUR OF THE SKIN, THEY JUST WANT THE JOB TO BE DONE HONESTLY AND COMPETENTLY.

      johan.vanheerden.737 - 2012-08-01 14:52

Ntiskelelo - no you are wrong -The ANC is too blame- they appoint criminals to head up the SAPS and from there it filters down

      ally.oh.7 - 2012-08-01 15:04

When the DA takes over there will be consequences for wrongdoing, and not just a little slap on the wrist or years of investigation while the "enquiry" drags on to inconclusion. Hey, Ntsikelelo, how about voting in the DA and seeing what happens? You don't know until you've tried it. We've tried the ANC and now we know it's a has-been useless organisation that is raping South Africa ... which reminds me: this discussion started off with rape, abuse of power, arrogance.

  • Phil.Kleynhans - 2012-08-01 14:14

I don't trust the SAP at all. They are more dangerous than the gangs roaming the streets. This is how many incidents like this happening

  • samgaf - 2012-08-01 18:32

With pigs like this, who needs criminals

  • titus.kekena - 2013-02-01 12:38
