Cops still hunting orphaned kids' killers

2012-08-25 13:15

Johannesburg - Police were still searching for those responsible for killing three children in Naboomspruit, Limpopo police said on Saturday.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said no arrests had been made and investigations were continuing.

The bodies of 9-year-old Bafana Kekana, Hosea Richard Kekana, 10, and Johana Kekana, 12, were found in Naboomspruit last Saturday.

They had been stoned to death, and their hands and feet bound with shoelaces. They were last seen on August 15 during a march to demand more teachers at their school, Dikobo Primary.

Johana, the girl, was raped before being killed. The three lived at the Montadi Youth Care Centre. Bafana and Hosea were brothers.

They lived at the centre because their grandmother, who looked after them, was sometimes hospitalised.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday for the three children. A provincial government official said the service would start at 07:00 at the Mookgopong sports ground in Naboomspruit.

Officials from the education, and health and social development departments were expected to be present.

Amazing how the officials attend the funerals of victims they were suppost to protect If they did the job they were suppost to this would not have happend.Chase the away like the Lomnin miners did and hold the people in power accountable for this. Goverment is there to surve the people not the otherway around

Exactly! These children were last seen alive on a protest march for better education. Were they Aids orphans? They have been failed in so many ways. The biggest insult is the way the government then takes over their funerals and use them as a political platform.

The three kids' mothers were two poverty-stricken siblings. The question, once again, where were the fathers. . .
