Johannesburg - Cosatu declined to comment on Monday about its general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi's disciplinary hearing on rape allegations.

"We won't comment on the matter.... The hearing is continuing," said Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) spokesperson Patrick Craven.

Vavi's lawyer Dup de Bruyn said he was not allowed into the hearing, as per Cosatu rules, and was waiting to hear from his client.

Vavi has admitted to having sex with a married woman, who was employed by Cosatu, and claimed she later tried to extort R2m from him.

He denied raping her, and said the sex was consensual.

However, she brought a complaint of sexual harassment against him.

The woman said on Monday that she was not in a position to talk about the hearing.

"I am not going to talk about it [the hearing] for now, I cannot answer any of your questions," she said.
