Who is Radovan Krejcir?

Over the past few months Radovan Krejcir has made headlines for all the wrong reasons. But just who is he?WATCH

Johannesburg - Czech businessman Radovan Krejcir will be moved from prison to a medical facility, the South Gauteng High Court ruled on Monday.

"I find the said expert [Krejcir's doctor] is credible. He has provided more than enough evidence," said Judge Ramarumo Monama.

Krejcir's lawyers wanted him moved from prison to hospital amid claims that he was assaulted and tasered following his arrest on Friday.

Monama heard testimony from Krejcir's doctor, a state doctor and a police official in an urgent application on Sunday night.

Renal failure

Krejcir's doctor, who the court said cannot be named for security reasons, recommended that Krejcir be hospitalised.

He said Krejcir could face renal failure if he did not get medical attention. The doctor said the injuries suffered by Krejcir were consistent with those of someone who had been assaulted.

The State also called its own doctor who said he had observed injuries on Krejcir's wrists, which could have been caused by the handcuffs.

Monama told the court it was not up to him to rule on how Krejcir sustained the injuries, but he had to determine whether he was to be moved to a medical facility.

The State had argued that Krejcir could receive medical attention in jail.

Earlier, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate said it was investigating Krejcir's assault claims.

Another case

Meanwhile, another case had been set down for Krejcir and another person at the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court in Alberton, also on Monday.

The two were to face charges of attempted murder and kidnapping relating to an incident in June.

The court was cleared of media with the prosecutor saying this was for security reasons.
