'Cruel predatory' teen terrorised girlfriend

2012-07-24 10:21

Bloemfontein - A 17-year-old Welkom teenager has been described as a “ruthless, cruel predator who terrorised his victim to such an extent that her mother thought she would commit suicide”.

Die Volksblad reported that the matric boy had assaulted and terrorised his girlfriend for two years, forcing her to taking a picture of her naked breasts, which he then sent out to hundreds of people to punish her and sending her pictures of weapons with which he threatened to kill himself.

He also assaulted two other girls and sexually molested them.

The teenager received a suspended sentence of 18 years along with correctional supervision and house arrest as well as having to do several counselling programmes.

Court documents told of a boy who was obsessively jealous and tried to control his girlfriend, threatening to kill himself and to have her raped by his gardener unless she did his bidding.

The girl was apparently covered in bruises and lost 3kg in two weeks, causing her mother to take her to the doctor.

As a result of the victimisation, the girl became depressed and withdrawn and she lost her prefect status after the pictures of her breasts were circulated.

Prosecutor Charmaine Labuschagne slammed the school for ignoring the boy’s obvious problems.

“The school knew the accused displayed sexually deviant behaviour but only gave him a choice whether he wanted to stay on in the school or not.

“The victim’s life was ruined and she had to use antidepressants. He simply went on with his life and got a new girlfriend to whom he did the same things.”

Maybe the gardener must get hold of the boyfriend.

This is the sort who later shoots up a cinema full of people, then people say: "We never noticed anything wrong". Put him away, he is a danger to society.

      Pixi3kid - 2012-08-02 11:28

The poor girl... i think she should get the chance to beat him with something... to rid her of the anger and depression he has caused her! and THEN the gardener should have his way with him! bastard

  • jaysonpaul.beckwith - 2012-07-24 10:42

Jeffrey Dahmer in the making. Lock him up now and throw away the key before its too late. Sick b@stard.

      jacqueline.engelbrecht.54 - 2012-07-24 13:43

Jeffrey Dahmer killed men and was homosexual. This nut job is more of a Albert De Salvo or Ted Bundy type.

  • christopher.columbus.3950178 - 2012-07-24 10:42

    Kill him before he kills!

  • eil33nn - 2012-07-24 10:44

"The teenager received a suspended sentence of 18 years along with correctional supervision and house arrest as well as having to do several counselling programmes." - IS THIS ENOUGH?! This poor girl!

      JManAtheoi - 2012-07-24 10:47

No it isn't. Its pathetic. They only wake up when a girl is actually raped or killed...and then say...'oh'.

      sarah.bouttell - 2012-07-24 11:19

Yep. Worse still, it is easy enough to move around in africa, change your name, ride low under the radar, abuse the fact that our police departments are overworked, and won't recognise old patterns. He is only just beginning his learning curve, and refining his skills. He will move on to be one of the big names in South African Serial Killing history.

      Johan - 2012-07-24 11:43

It should be a good deterrent for the boy. He will be 18 soon. And if it is not enough he will go to jail and meet his match.

      amanda.vandenberg.758 - 2012-07-24 12:10

Definitely not good enough, another Sunday rapist in the making. The judicial system surely failed the community in this one, be assured he will be in the newspapers again in the future and everybody will be asking "but how did this happen"

  • iceman196 - 2012-07-24 10:47

sick bastard, throw this thing in solitary, nothing but darkness for company

  • zimbobwe.mugabe - 2012-07-24 10:47

      sarah.bouttell - 2012-07-24 11:16

no drugs for this boy. he likes to be in control.

  • TheyTookMyNickLaZynEko - 2012-07-24 10:54

That boy is a reflection of the males he has been exposed to in his life.

  • badballie - 2012-07-24 11:01

Why a suspended sentence?? the only reason to not imprison him is the how that someone will do him in. Scum like this doesn't deserve mercy, sympathy or any leeway, someone needs to give him a "necklace"

  • Bullit - 2012-07-24 11:03

The law of mankind has evolved, no corporal punishment allowed in schools and home. It is his choice, remember. There is no consequence in the world anymore so people do what they want. This is not only the boy’s fault but society too. Too many people go unpunished due to laws. But hey it is our choice not to do anything about it, so why must we worry about the girl. Really she should have let him kill himself.

  • arthur.hugh - 2012-07-24 11:03

Where was this boys parents in all this? Did they not see what he was up to? The school should also get a kick up the rear.

  • gale.mokobokoa.1 - 2012-07-24 11:04

Our justice system ey. U ruin pople's lives, u get suspended. U kill someone, u get bail. U steal money, u get imprisonment. Which is more valuable, money or people's lives?

  • Florence Dzimwasha - 2012-07-24 11:05

He's not Jeffrey Dahmer type, more like Ted Bundy! He's already a psychopath and should be removed from society. He's already started and will get worse. Why he wasn't put in jail, boggles the mind.

  • leslie.rabie - 2012-07-24 11:06

Not Jeffrey Dahmer - He killed homosexuals this is rather a Ted Bundy in the making

      sarah.bouttell - 2012-07-24 11:23

Yep. Pure Predator. Bundy made Dahmer look like he was still in pre-school.

  • Matthew - 2012-07-24 11:06

Castrate him.Send him off to prison and let the inmates have their way with him.

  • wehan.victor - 2012-07-24 11:08

  • tricia.sutherland1 - 2012-07-24 11:40

house arrest not good enough - he needs to be institutionalised and get proper treatment. if he has threatened suicide he will take out other first before himself [watch this space].

  • stephen.vandenberg.54 - 2012-07-24 11:49

You wonder what parents would set such an example, but then you realise the world out there is riddled with these kind of people ... I Ask, Where does it start ... Where were his parents to bring him up with manners and empathy ... instead they didn't acquaint themselves enough with their child and allow him to really express his feelings... Then the problem would have been made clear instead of been hidden in the shadows... CRITICAL PARENTS!!!!!

  • Mzimba58 - 2012-07-24 11:55

If you mishandle a lasor Blade it cuts the owner and if put to good use and handled properly an excellent tool!! The same is true with Teenage misdemeanor!!!!

      stephen.vandenberg.54 - 2012-07-24 12:00

Its True... It all Depends how you handle the problem ... Properly or halfheartedly ... Parents tend to sweep their childrens problems under the rug without properly adressing them in an unbias way.... and the the Child never learns how to deal with those feelings and situations

  • eyesears.handsfeet - 2012-07-24 12:32

I only have alot of questions to both the teenager and the victim. Does the teenager have parents or is he staying with someone else? Why would the school give HIM the choice to stay in school or not? I sure hope the counselling programmes will help.

  • fran.aphane - 2012-07-24 12:57

What about the parents of this boy, where are they and what did they contribute in all this. This is all filled with ignorance to the core. I mean how can you not see that your child is behaving in a manner which is not acceptable? I know we don't go every where with your kids but the signs are always there? I have an 18 year old and I can see the slightest change in her without even blinking. This is just like being in an abusive relationship, terrible indeed.

  • bashin.monyela - 2012-07-24 14:14

    Demonic tactics these

  • maureen.churchill.9 - 2012-07-24 14:38

You should have given him a rope to hang himself, so young being a bully one day he'll have a wife and kids whom he'll probably bully to death. Not a good idea to have stayed with him for 2 years, if a man or a woman lifts a hand toward her partner it goes on from there and you'll NEVER change him/her. Something in their psyche is screwed up at birth and they get great delight in seeing someone squirm and be afraid of them. DON'T go back there, you are far too young to have a serious boyfriend anyway.

  • lawson.lutchman - 2012-07-24 14:53

    Spare the rod...

  • barrys72 - 2012-07-24 14:59

This \thing\ is a menace to society and should as such be removed from society, but yet he receives a suspended sentence... mind boggling!

  • gpitse - 2012-07-24 15:36

Dont we have juvenile correctional centers any more ? I dont see why the leniency here ? there is a spear influence here!

  • celeste.e.louw - 2012-07-24 18:59

I wish I could say this is an uncommon problem but it really doesn't seem so... answers? Well clearly the fabric of society is just unravelling and each of us need to do our bit to stop it!

  • Hamrammr - 2012-07-26 09:35

I am confident in saying that the school gave him the choice as he is either good in sports (Especialy rugby or cricket) or his parents are on the executive council or even both. Teachers and the executive councils no longer feel the need for creating responsible environments in schools. They feed on personal power and their own materialistic needs. They have forgotten that schools was intended as academic institutions with the responsibility to teach morals and ethics, and was not created to be sport academies!
