Dad gets life for raping daughter, 13

2012-02-28 14:28

Polokwane - A Tzaneen man was jailed for life on Tuesday for the rape of his 13-year-old daughter, Limpopo police said.

The Tzaneen Regional Court handed down the sentence to Tshepiso Peter Malapane after he was convicted of the rape, said Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba.

He said the assault, which happened last December, took place when the girl's mother was not at home. He threatened his daughter that he would kill her if she told her mother.

When the mother noticed her daughter was bleeding and took her to Mankweng Hospital for treatment, the details of the rape emerged.

The man was arrested two days later.

Ramatseba said the case against the man suffered a setback when the mother of the girl died while the trial was not yet concluded.

"She was the State witness. The professional investigative skills of Captain Marumo Phineas Matula convinced the court that the accused needed to be sent to prison for many years," said Ramatseba.

Another burden on the tax payer. He should have been hanged.

      Darren - 2012-02-28 14:47

      …by his nuts ja

      Janice - 2012-02-28 14:50

True, but thank God it wasnt a lighter sentence!!! I hope he gets raped over and OVER AGAIN!!!

      JohhnyBGood - 2012-02-28 15:10

I agree, but how does this work? One kills 10 children, get 20 year, this oak rapes one child (his own) and gets life ? What gives ? I suerly dont get it ...

      Jason - 2012-02-28 15:45

Well we don't have a death sentence.. this is sending out the right message do this and you will spend the rest of your life in jail

      DayanGovender - 2012-02-28 15:55

      @JohnnyBGood - my thought exactly!!!!

      Joburg - 2012-02-28 16:15

Johny surely, you must see the difference??????????????? Dude really think hard about it

  • Bokfan - 2012-02-28 14:36

Life for committing rape is whaht the nation demands. But then explain 20 years for ten murders. Clearly the approach to sentencing needs to be made more coherent.

      angel.moonsamy - 2012-02-28 14:49

You could nothave put it any better : Now would the judiciary pleeeze explain

      ThandaMzansi - 2012-02-28 15:47

Bokfan, while the taxi driver in the case you're talking about was careless, stupid and negligent, his actions were neither premeditated nor with malicious intent. This evil 'father' did not ACCIDENTALLY rape his own child. Personally, I think life in prison is too lenient a sentence. Off with is 'head.'

  • Tammy - 2012-02-28 14:40

well done Judge. He will suffer in prison every single day - he will wish he was never born

  • Fredster - 2012-02-28 14:42

Mr President, please show some guts and let life be life...

  • TBlogger - 2012-02-28 14:43

Cut off his man parts and then throw him in a dark hole. Death is too much of an easy escape.. This life sentence will most likely be converted in a few years when he shows "good" behaviour. I hope the girl recovers both physically but more importantly, EMOtionally..

  • angel.moonsamy - 2012-02-28 14:49

Babba would be waiting 4 him Lol

it is so refreshing to read a story about rape where the mother of the child does not keep quiet about the daughter's situation at home. I wish all women were this protective of their kids and not scared to lose their men when they find out that their husbands are sexually molesting their children.

      IJust - 2012-02-28 16:01

How the hell does a man rape/molest is OWN CHILD for godsake, to me this is inconceivable

  • Thoka - 2012-02-28 14:55

take this Judge to capetown for killer Humphrey case. thumps up judge

  • J.A.Rademan - 2012-02-28 14:56

This clearly show the inconsistencies in SA Law. @ Bokfan - I totally agree - This guy got life for rape, and rightly so the swine. But the taxi driver that killed 10 kids got 20 years. I know the public INTEREST and not OPINION is at stake, but I don't believe it is in the public interest to send a message that you can kill 10 kids and still be allowed back into society. Especially to the taxi industry that probably kill more South Africans out of impatience and a general F-you attitude.

      Kala - 2012-02-28 17:10

The difference is "intent". Even thought he taxi driver killed 10 children he did so unintentionally. As ThandaMzanzi said earlier this evil father did not accidently rape his child

  • Steve - 2012-02-28 14:59

i suggest all person bring their rape case to the courts and demand this as the norm. murder - the same corruption by a governement official - the same

      Tammy - 2012-02-28 15:52

      agreed steve

  • Kimon - 2012-02-28 15:00

      JohhnyBGood - 2012-02-28 15:12

What a sad life. Shame, I feel really heartbroken for her...

  • Duduzile Nkosi Sibeko - 2012-02-28 15:22

    that is justice

  • Cilla - 2012-02-28 15:32

Fantastic sentence. He might be a burden to the tax payer as some think but he'll never assault a child again.

  • SGL - 2012-02-28 15:34

This poor child! To be raped by your own father and then to lose your mother and be put through a court case - my heart breaks for her. I hope she has family members who will love her and be good to her. She deserves a break.

  • Den - 2012-02-28 16:03

    i agree thanda

  • Heiku - 2012-02-28 16:09

He should be further investigated for murder. Unless the poor woman died from a previously identified condition.

  • Stobbie - 2012-02-28 16:37

How did the mother die? probebly the "dad" who mureder her or hired some people to try to get away with it..

  • Sakhele - 2012-02-28 16:52

  • Allan - 2012-03-06 10:01

R5 for a bullet or how many millions in tax payers money to keep this degenerate swine alive for his life sentence, he also retains his right to vote, to education and gets 3 warm meals a day...Some people will argue that he deserves to suffer for what he did, I believe it is more humane to just execute him. If people want to act like animals then they deserve to be put down like animals...
