Delmas day mom, baby 'killers' get bail

2012-07-17 17:58

Johannesburg - Three men accused of killing a 5-month-old baby and a day mother were granted bail of R1 000 each by the Delmas Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Sergeant Gerald Sedibe said they would be back in court on August 17.

Fernandos Maritse, 27, Enock Mbele, 44, and Lazarus Mabhena, 54, are accused of strangling 66-year-old Magrietha de Goede and baby Wiehan Botes in May.

De Goede's body was found under a carpet in an outside room of her home in Mpumalanga. The baby's body was found under a bed in the main house.

Sedibe said police were still searching for a fourth man, who they believed could help them with information about the case.

They will not be back in court. How stupid the judge is giving them bail.

They must take a dirty nappy and sufocate them till they die

      farmfreund - 2012-07-18 02:02

well done judge, is this not the same fool that is falling asleep in court , or is it the judge that is mastrubating over a rape case

      rob.baggaley - 2012-07-18 08:25

Not too many of the usual denialists & race card players commenting on this. The judge should be investigated re this descion. Absolute disgrace !

Why should animals receive better treatment than they gave their victims. Sure innocent until proven quilty but should these guys be found guilty of KILLING a five month old baby no less, then there is only one option. Kill the bastards. That would be justice served. What possible reason can they give to kill a child? Was it a threat to them? Was it in their self defense? No, it was hate. Unbridled unthinking hate. I am sorry but there is no place for people who kill without conscience. No doubt this will become a race thing but evil comes in all shapes and forms. No to jump on the religious bandwagon either. These murderers are just not right in their heads. They have a defect. Sure stealing out of need is one thing, but to kill a child whilst doing it is something else. They showed no mercy. They deserve none in return.

This is the reason crime is rife in S.A.!!!! There is NO punishment, consequnces or regard for a human life in these actions!! 2 innocent people are dead, families destroyed and these goons payR1000.00 and walk out the door???? Would the Justice system please wake up and smell the BLOOD!!!!!!! Shameful!

  • Dawn Campbell Gibson - 2012-07-17 18:16

Are these bloody people brain dead? R1000. They should have been put in front of a firing squad!

  • charmaine.paterson1 - 2012-07-17 18:21

These men are accused of robbing and murdering, it is probably their occupation. They are given a small bail. A truck driver makes an error of judgement and he is denied bail. I understand twenty six people died because of his mistake but is he a danger to the community?

      Dawn Campbell Gibson - 2012-07-17 18:27

Charmaine - Sad reality I am guessing the truck driver was not an ANC supporter!

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-17 18:56

You make a very valid point. They are likening him to the taxi driver who collided with a train resulting in which do many children were killed and injured - so the precedent is there. For murder such as this, I wonder what led the judge to give them bail. It's unthinkable. With regard to the Marzaan Kruger attack (the 1 year old baby blinded by attackers in her home) this is a copy of a current news report "One of the men accused of beating one-year-old Marzaan Kruger and her minder Francina Sekhu has been denied bail by the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court."

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-17 18:59

One of the men accused of beating one-year-old Marzaan Kruger and her minder Francina Sekhu has been denied bail by the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court. Why does a brutal attack (that thankfully did not result in her death) succeed in keeping the attacker in jail, and the where there is a double murder, under similar circumstances, the suspects are out on bail? This is a disgusting travesty of justice.

  • winifred.watson.9 - 2012-07-17 18:34

Geez R1000 bail, thats peanuts. Cant believe this country, it has become absolutely lawless. That people can get bail for 2 murders, nogal, is disgusting. We are definitly living in a murderous country where murderers run free, arrogant taxi drivers who kill and main people daily dont care about the rules of the road. Our very own government officials who have had their hands in the till stealing taxpayers money. We should name this place alibaba a haven for thieves and murderers.

  • grace.andtruth.77 - 2012-07-17 18:35

I hope the community gets hold of them! This justice system is pathetic! Anyone who can kill a 5 month old baby and its day mother in cold blood shouldn't qualify for bail... I'm disgusted!

  • Lennon Chenga - 2012-07-17 18:39

Murderers, robbers and rapists caught at the scene of the crime or where there's no doubt of their involvement should not be granted bail. What will the purpose be of granting them temporary freedom, and what more is there to investigate? Are they not going to just compare notes and change their stories? Especially when there's still another at large!!

  • richard.lemmer1 - 2012-07-17 18:39

  • carolyn.dewrance - 2012-07-17 18:46

Maybe the Magistrate, should be locked up as well, letting those men go free, means he was paid to do it, and that makes him just as guilty as the creatures that killed that tiny baby. They should all be killed, and yes the stupid bloody mad magistrate as well, only guess is that he is as black as them, and possibly the 4th person that the so called police are looking for. They are all guilty.

  • grace.andtruth.77 - 2012-07-17 18:46

And the ruling party is horrified that people burn the flag??? And their priorities are directed at a harmless painting??? You're a disgrace to the human race, never mind SA. You're no better (in fact you're worse) than the apartheid government

  • Bless Boswell - 2012-07-17 18:48

These men all belong behind bars. Forever. The fact that they are out on bail is a very clear message of how the government views violent crime and how little they value white lives in this country. A white model makes a racist remark on twitter, because a black man made a pass at her and there was a public outcry. A painter paints a satiristic lewd representation of the president and it results in marches and an expensive court case and then we have an elderly woman who was brutally murdered in her own home along with one of the very young children she was caring for and the perpetrators are OUT ON BAIL?? This is a disgusting travesty of justice. How must the families of the victims feel? Does anybody actually care? It is little wonder that communities sometimes take the law into their own hands.

The ANC have managed to f up the justice system they ate like the plague they contaminate every thing and destroy it ,they are acurse even worse than apartheid , may they rot in hell!!

  • jj.jeno.1 - 2012-07-17 20:01

Wow, people saying must be a black judge? What a ridiculous thing to say... I'm not to respond to replies but I can tell you that people like you are the reason why the majority of blacks will continue to vote ANC ( a party I don't support btw). Why would they let go of the race card and unite with DA (mainly white) supporters when your comments clearly reflect your mindset toward blacks? I can't think of the word for it but it would be some sort of stockholm syndrome to do such a thing... Let the race thing go man. I am black and I am not stupid (charles dumbwin) but you label me without knowing me? I'm disgusted, not only for the bail granted in this case and the victims involved (RIP) but the attitude of some people. - 2012-07-18 13:46
