Designer unveils Malema clothing label

2011-11-28 10:21

Johannesburg - A local fashion designer plans to launch a clothing line named after suspended ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema, reported the Dispatch online on Monday.

According to the report, designer Obakeng Ramabodu plans to launch the label at the ANC's centenary celebrations in Mangaung on January 08.

The clothing line features the logo "Juju" and includes berets, T-shirts, sunglasses, watches and children’s clothing.

The label sports a picture of a large pair of lips to imitate someone who talks a lot, with the Juju name scribbled across it, according to the report.

"It will be fun with bright colours and lots of bling. It is like the beret was made for him; no one can pull it off quite like he can," Ramabodu was quoted as saying.

The news of the launch came after Malema and other senior leaders were suspended from the ANC earlier this month for bringing the party into disrepute and sowing division among ANC leaders.

Malema was leading a campaign to stop President Jacob Zuma from being re-elected as ANC president at the party's elective conference at the end of next year.

When I was in the Army..The non AA/BEE army and my beret looked like malema's I would have gotten an OpF@K for about an hour by my corporal.

      Thokozane - 2011-11-28 13:55

      Ian, LOL

      Rofras - 2011-11-28 15:19

      Impi - 2011-11-28 16:02

@Rofras. I can't stop laughing! You have the very best profile picture on the whole of FB! You should resign your daytime job and start a comedy show dressed like that. You will make Millions!

  • Joseph - 2011-11-28 10:28

editor what meanest art though ?

      Grant - 2011-11-28 12:51

@ Impi....You seem to be a very balanced individual - you have a huge chip on each shoulder!

      Impi - 2011-11-28 12:53

      @Joseph. See what I mean?

      Gregory - 2011-11-28 12:54

And Impi is white, parading as a superior black, just to rile.............

      Grant - 2011-11-28 13:01

@impi.. Are you trying to implement your own personal info bill? Who the hell do you think you are, telling somebody else what they may or may not say. Until that disgrace of a bill becomes law, freedom of speech still applies, as does freedom of association......

      Heibrin - 2011-11-28 13:07

@Impi: You can say the same about blacks commenting on The Sowetan's website.... they sound as racist, ignorant and indifferent as some white commentators on here, if not more so. Should I also then say that they are not as smart as they themselves believe? If you have an issue with a specific comment, post against that comment, don't generalize.

      Alan - 2011-11-28 13:17

Actually have to agree with impi to a degree. Some of the comments posted here are witless and down right cruel. I'm definitely not a Malema or ANC supporter, but guys, please the punches above the belt.

      Pieter - 2011-11-28 13:44

      @ Impi.......You noobaB

      Impi - 2011-11-28 17:34

@Greegs. Don't worry, this one of yours will stay. They like whites on here.

      Impi - 2011-11-28 17:36

@Greegs. I forgot to ask you, how is the lawn, shall I trim the edges as well? Just joking Greegs. LOL

      Siotine - 2011-11-29 10:05

  • Kacee - 2011-11-28 10:29

ROFL, this guys nuts, Juju only got 5000 supporters, and they all expect to get stuff for free, not sure how he/she plans to make money off this... hahahahahaha - 2011-11-28 10:50

exactly! the only juju clothing i'd wear is this zapiro cartoon on a t-shirt...

      Skhanyo - 2011-11-28 12:29

5000? where did you get that from? i am sue you are not good with figures, by the way how much did you get for maths at high school..(assuming that you have a matric, even though that might not be true). you do not just come up with random numbers like that! unless of course you do not know nothing or you are pushing for a sinister agenda.

      Maverick82 - 2011-11-28 13:45

Last I read it was about 370 000 people that support him. Thats about 0.75 % of all South Africans.

  • Fredster69 - 2011-11-28 10:38

You have to give this guy some form of credit..the problem now lies with the manufacturing etc of these items. Watches? is he going to get them from the flea market and re-label them? what a joke!!

      Johan - 2011-11-28 12:09

      Fong Kong Breitlings?

      Merven - 2011-11-28 13:09

Credit is the only thing he will get, they sapportas will want it for free.

  • PilgrimX - 2011-11-28 11:08

Yes, he is a hero you know. Soon a street will be named after him and maybe an airport too. How about a bronze goat herder statue somewhere.

      Go - 2011-11-28 11:15

Pilgrim - we dont have streets here that go nowhere !!!!!lol

  • Shistirrer - 2011-11-28 11:17

      George - 2011-11-28 12:49

It could be worse it could be a range of wooden furniture

  • Chrisjan - 2011-11-28 11:18

Will it slowly degenerate into nothing?

  • Marius - 2011-11-28 11:30

Leave the poor man alone ..... lol

      Gregory - 2011-11-28 12:56

All of that's okay, but the word 'poor'? That fat slob is anything but 'poor' with the money he has 'gained' so righteously.

  • Call_Of_Muti_3 - 2011-11-28 11:35 This is still one of the very best Malema-themed t-shirt designs. Prove me wrong.

  • Rory - 2011-11-28 11:41

  • Vicker - 2011-11-28 12:12

      Helen - 2011-11-28 12:28

That's really ugly. Don't get to the Malema level of spouting inanities.

      Shistirrer - 2011-11-28 17:38

Ummm... that's not what he intends to spout :D

  • Elle-Black - 2011-11-28 12:13

  • Clive - 2011-11-28 12:45

"It is like the beret was made for him; no one can pull it off quite like he can," Ramabodu was quoted as saying." Actually, that thing bears no resemblance to a beret; but bears much resemblance to a cow turd.

  • Anthony - 2011-11-28 12:51

    jesus please.......................thats retarded

  • MastersVoice - 2011-11-28 12:54

I am getting sick and tired of this kind of reporting. This is not news, and serves no purpose at all! Carry on with this kind of "news", and I will stop using News24.

      Merven - 2011-11-28 13:12

      Bye bye

      khanyib1 - 2011-11-28 13:43

      Yip, bye bye then

  • Swapie - 2011-11-28 13:58

Mmm,I wonder if Julius endorses this clothing line. Like it or not but the name "Julius Malema" and "Juju" are immediately recognized and carries therefor some value. I am sure he will get a nice cut.

  • Thokozane - 2011-11-28 14:01

"The label sports a picture of a large pair of lips to imitate someone who talks a lot, with the Juju name scribbled across it" Eish, ya neh.

  • John - 2011-11-28 15:03

Are stripes and shackles coming back???

  • Patrick - 2011-11-28 15:42

Gum boots and prison overalls form the core of the range.

  • Thokozane - 2011-11-28 15:49

I need to find a designer soon, my clothing label will be called "Fat-Cats", for people who are victims of unfulfilled promises. It will only come in small sizes.

  • stefan.grundlingh - 2011-11-28 15:53

Sounds like a label for Drama queens...

  • Maai - 2011-11-28 15:55

The T shirts come with authentic-look KFC stains.

  • Eric - 2011-11-28 16:20

I assume the clothes will have very BIG pockets to hold all the cash?

  • Eric - 2011-11-28 16:44

Just think how many of you made anti Malema comments. Only becuase he is outspoken. Just think, what if he did became a secret none of you will be able to comment on Julius, but it is not a secret. On this page are those that can afford to have a computer but the masses that Julius has are followers that will buy the clothing with what little they have to support someone they believe in.Just like they did when the previous government was overthrown. It is voting next yer so the jostling for positions have started.

      Maai - 2011-11-28 16:55

The fat one has been suspended for 5 years so why would he jostle for a position in next years vote? Do you suspect he is going to start his own political party? I hope so, I could do with the amusement...

      Shistirrer - 2011-11-28 17:40

The Juju followers cannot afford designer purple suits. Only Juju himself can afford designer clothing.

  • Torstein - 2011-11-28 17:16

  • Shoe - 2011-11-28 17:28

I hope they put his picture on the T-shirt, I totally see my self wearing it with two big holes where his eyes should have been.

  • braamc - 2011-11-28 17:51

Can I have a picture of his face on the backside of the trousers, would be lovely to fart in his face every now and then.

  • Christian - 2011-11-28 19:30

Just in time for Xmas; nifty purple island-style attire!

  • Sheda - 2011-11-28 19:56

A nappy range all i would buy for my baby's diarrhoea........

  • Joseph - 2011-11-28 22:04

I will only buy it if it includes Hellen Zille,Lekota and the Germans who are sponsering Cope and The DA to form an altanative governmant in SA.I think the Germans are taking us for granted they think that we are stupid. Why are they not sponsering change of governmant in Europe were there is a crisis.Cope is the better project they think so stupid.

      vergeet.weer - 2011-11-29 00:50
