Desmond Tutu 'doing well' after surgery

Cape Town - Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is doing well after undergoing surgery last week, the Desmond Tutu Peace Centre said on Monday.

"He had an elective surgical procedure on Friday and he's fine," said spokesperson Roger Friedman.

"He could be released this afternoon though his family is quite keen for him to spend another night in hospital."

Friedman declined to disclose the nature of the operation but said there was no cause for serious concern for the popular cleric, who battled prostate cancer in the late 1990s.

Is this censored too??? Tell all before people start speculating and rumours start flying! And why the need for the mention of prostate cancer in 1990???????

It's called respecting the individual's request for privacy. And the previous cancer scare is widely known, so the reassurance by the doctor is welcome news.

So do I, and I really mean this. II have always thought Tutu was one opf the real saviours in 1994 when he instigated the "Truth & Reconciliation Commission" This was a major factor in the peaceful transition of government.

  • Louis - 2011-12-12 12:06

It's called respecting someone's privacy! And we're aware of the previous cancer scare, so the reassurance is welcome.

To all the thumbs down moronic imbeciles! Ok, a word you wont understand. Persons with chronic idiocy tendencies. Dont post if you cant take intellectuals on! POST something and make the group interesting! First thing that comes to mind is there is NO intelligence, secondly, after having passed 12th grade, you should be able to correspond and give others a damned good shot at what you think. Sign language (up and down thumbs), certainly dont make you intelligent! AND dont waste data space on the hosting site!
