Dog killer released on warning - report

2012-07-18 12:42

Johannesburg - A Pretoria court released a 22-year-old man on a warning after he admitted to slaughtering two puppies, Beeld newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Christiaan Lamprecht pleaded guilty to two charges of cruelty to animals in the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court.

In January he strangled his neighbour's two puppies and then skinned them, outside his garden cottage in Pretoria.

This was to "get them permanently quiet". The carcasses were found in a rubbish bin the next day.

The court gave him a warning and released him.

In 2009, Lamprecht had a similar charge against him withdrawn after he strangled his neighbour's dachshund. That charge was withdrawn because he agreed to follow a rehabilitation programme and perform community service at the Pretoria Zoo.

After the latest incident, he was sent for psychiatric evaluation which found he was not suffering from any disorder, but that he was mentally disabled.

What F&*$* Bull Shi&..... Let off with a warning. I would love to have his details.... I would give him the punishment he deserves!!!!!!!

      klippies.coke.7 - 2012-07-18 13:31

Trying to "permanently" quiet the puppies by strangling them is bad enough, skinning them is indicative of something else. This guy is a sicko!

      mariana.corcoran - 2012-07-18 13:44

i will gladly come and help you

  • didi.henning - 2012-07-18 12:55

So this means that he will do it again? I just love the SA justice system.

  • Cameron - 2012-07-18 12:58

Not mentally disturbed!! He strangled three dogs on two separate occasions!! HE SKINNED PUPPIES!! He should be locked up!!

      jeffrey.jones.357 - 2012-07-18 13:49

Never mind prison,he should be whipped to death with a sjambok.

  • godesha - 2012-07-18 12:59

It is a known fact that some people who torture animals are more likely to become serial killers. It won't be long before he strangles a person and another and some more to make them keep quiet.

  • owamin1 - 2012-07-18 13:04

this man is a sociopath, and will kill again and again. the poor dogs were just the beginning. He'll progress to human beings if he is not stopped!

  • jenny.isserow - 2012-07-18 13:06

Is mentally disabled not a disorder......... I thin k the justice system is a disorder

  • marc.bester.1 - 2012-07-18 13:10

this guy is sick man! as a animal lover i think stronger crimes should be in place for such hatred and disregards for God's creatures.i hope local animal rights groups and SPCA make an example of him

  • zee.angel.10 - 2012-07-18 13:10

Now this is just pathetic. Let's see if we can get hold of this monster! I would love to take my take and torture him the same way he tortured the pups. What is happening to the justice system????? Hope the SPCA and all other animal welfare organisations will do something about this.

      mariana.corcoran - 2012-07-18 13:47

he sure needs the same punishment do to those what they do to others

      jeffrey.jones.357 - 2012-07-18 13:50

Yeah, they should appeal this sentence as being too lenient.

  • juditht2 - 2012-07-18 13:10

One very, VERY sick individuel!!!! Give me 5 minutes with this F%%k so i can skin him alive!!!!

  • marc.bester.1 - 2012-07-18 13:14

would he have done the same if the neighbors dogs were fully grown pit bulls? i guess not! loser!!

  • cindy.kleyn.1 - 2012-07-18 13:16

Mmmmm I will dream of what I will do to him! I wish all the worst stuff on him till he dies which will hopefully be the most painful way ever! Karma is a bitch and karma just became his first name! you sick sick molecule

  • natasja.jacobs.353 - 2012-07-18 13:18

I will give this idiot a warning he will never forget.

  • Linda - 2012-07-18 13:23

I would like to strangle and skin not only Christiaan Lamprecht - but the brain dead imbecile of a magistrate who made this ruling! Christiann Lamprecth has been found to be mentally disabled - but what is the magistrates excuse?!! This magistrate should be removed from office immediately and this ruling should be appealled.

      mariana.corcoran - 2012-07-18 13:43

      i agree fully with you

  • Hein Van Wyk - 2012-07-18 13:25

oooooooh ohhh IDEE!!!! if lived close to him ill get a cd of dog's barking....enjoy :D

  • deon.louw.7505 - 2012-07-18 13:35

Serial killer in the making? Beware.

  • Ari - 2012-07-18 13:36

Justice System - an oxymoron (contradiction in terms)- with an emphasis on 'moron'

  • olivia.duplessis.1 - 2012-07-18 13:46

Really? So easy to play the mentally disabled card. It is proven that people who abuse animals are psychopaths in the making. Most serial killers, rapists, murders etc started on animals. So he can do it again and say sorry I am mentally disabled. Then they should put him in an institution where he can do nobody harm but himself.

  • mariana.corcoran - 2012-07-18 13:56

this is a serious offence but unfortunately we do not have a justise system people get away with murder whether an animal or a human life thisperon needs to be given the same punishment as what he did to these puppies give him to me no mercy will be shown

  • nicolene.kotze1 - 2012-07-18 14:10

    this is sick, sick, SICK!!!

  • christian.kuun - 2012-07-18 14:11

Eish, Sounds a bit like Jeffrey Dahmers childhood...and will probably take the same turn eventually.... A bloke that sits scratching a a dogs head, then suddenly snaps and strangles it AND then gets such a kick out of it that he carries on to skin it, is a seriously twisted sicko!

  • ben.pretorius.33 - 2012-07-18 14:12

Surely the magistrate should be taken to task, hope that the NPA or the Chief Magistrate will review this case and also remove this magistrate and send Lamprecht to a slaugter house. I would love the be incharge of the knives. Have not seen any comment from the NSPCA!

  • james.freeborough.14 - 2012-07-18 14:14

  • paul.classens - 2012-07-18 14:24

Life is life whether animal or human,so how is this justified? clearly this guy should not be free,as for the magistrate well when he has a massive overload of murderers running through his city he will have only himself to blame

  • antin.herinck - 2012-07-18 14:24

So did it again? Even after following a rehabilitation programme? Huge surprise, much? When oh when will they get it that such people are beyond help? Invariably they get worse and only get smarter at their "game".

  • Billy - 2012-07-18 14:47

so, if a dog kills this guy trying to defend itself, what will happen to the dog?

  • stacey.jansen.10 - 2012-07-18 14:58

He should be locked up??? The second offence and all he gets is a dam warning???? PATHETIC!!!

  • carolyn.dewrance - 2012-07-18 15:11

So now he is free to do the same to someones little baby, Christ he should be locked up in PRISON and have his own body skinned by his animal loving inmates. YOU BAstard

  • LanfearM - 2012-07-18 15:12

WTF?! A second-time offender [that we know of] and he gets a "warning"?! WTF?! That is all I can say. Unbelievable.

  • Gooeylishus - 2012-07-18 15:40

How does wrapping your hands around the necks of two puppies until they are lifeless make sense to any human being at all? How did he not see what he was doing and stop? I think we'll see him in the news again. Monster.

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 10:18

All I can say is he achieved what he set out to do - to shut them up. However ugly, cruel and brutal an act it was. What he did needs to be punished, but dog owners please take heed. You might think its cute and funny or might not even hear the racket your dogs make. Please be considerate. Curb your dogs barking, train them and care for them . Otherwise they too might be abused or myrdered by people who cannot tolerate their noise. I am expecting flack - but am sure it will come from people who have noisy dogs and cannot be bothered to train or control them

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 12:30

Ja, I thought so - everybody is very quiet.

  • Bless Boswell - 2012-07-18 19:22

I do not condone what was done to the puppies, nor any cruelty whatsoever, but ... As the owner of a quiet property - by quiet, we do not make a noise, nor do we own noisy dogs - we have 3 neighbors, all of whom have untrained, uncontrolled dogs that yap and bark incessantly. They go away on holiday and leave them behind to create havoc. They cry, yap and bark all day. It is inconsiderate and spoils the time I cherish at home. When I have broached this with the owners I am told to shut up and mind my own business. I must admit there are times when I imagine my hands around a soft furry neck ( but I'm too old to climb over the wall) :(

      delish7564 - 2012-07-18 21:36

If you have a problem with the noise, report it to the Police or SPCA, it's not the dogs' fault. I have no time for anyone who is cruel to animals but to go away on holiday and leave your dogs is neglect and should be punished unless alternative arrangements had been made. I would hazard a guess that your neighbours are out all day and the dogs are outside, so no wonder they bark. One of my dogs would bark if anybody walked past the back of my house if the doors were open, but he was only doing his job alerting me to strangers. I'm at home all day and can control any unnecessary barking but if owners are away all day, how can they possibly know what their dogs are doing. I think their attitude towards you stinks but unfortunately people do become very defensive when spoken to on this subject. Perhaps they thought you would report them and then their dogs might get taken would make me very defensive too. Having said that, there are owners whose dogs bark through the night where I live and I agree it is very annoying, but I have more of a problem with them than the dogs. Don't really know what the solution for you is other than earplugs, sorry :) Would love to get my hands on this guy, but as they say, "What goes around, comes around", so it is my belief he will be punished severely for his heinous crime, just hope he suffers as those pups must have done....he certainly hasn't learned anything and should not be shown any clemency by the courts.

      jaycmuller - 2012-07-18 22:43

I would like to put my hands around your neck!!! You never get a bad dog, you get a bad owner!!!

      Gerald Jordaan - 2012-07-19 02:29

@Bles..instead of hands around furry necks..hands around the necks of the pricks who do not care for their pets!!

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 09:23

Delish, I have tried - I even have the inspector's cell number. He fines them R550 every time he comes around. I am an animal lover, so I would never harm any one of them. But if the owner is either not around, or ignores/insults you, what to do? Poorly trained/untrained dogs are a curse - actually a threat. You never know whether they are bored or actually barking at an intruder - they just bark all the time.

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 09:29

Gerald, if you read above, you'll see I have tried that too. All to no avail. I can no more harm them than fly to the moon. Doesn't stop me from sometimes wanting to though. I am human, need my sleep, don't want to be barked at if I sit in my garden or open a window. They are so intrusive and are not even appreciated by their owners who leave them unattended all day and over weekends and holidays. Why bother to have them?

  • Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 09:24

Jcmuller: I have said the owners pay no attention. If you had read my post properly, you would have seen I was trying to lighten up - suggest you do too.

      jaycmuller - 2012-07-19 09:41

      Animal cruelty is no JOKE!!!

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 10:13

I never said it was . In fact if you read my original comment, I said I could not condone what the man had done. Are you for real??

  • Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 10:25

And by the way, I am active in animal rescue - so if there are any thoughts out there that I am cruel and don't care, think again!

      LanfearM - 2012-07-19 14:19

I don't think the problem, bless.boswell, is that you have taken this atrocity and turned it into a personal "the neighbours' dogs bark too much" story. It does seem however from your personal comments that you [sort of] condone or at least semi-understand why the guy did what he did. I understand your frustration, and if all else fails you can pay thousands of rands for laywers and sue them in court. You can also suggest to them that they use the very animal-friendly collars that spray a tiny amount of citronella every time the dog starts barking/howling. They only have to use it when they are not at home. My sister did that with their one dog after a derth of complaints about him howling during the day when they are at work, so she tried the collar for a couple of months and he stopped. They don't even have to use the collar anymore. The fact that this guy in the article is probably a serial killer in the making, is what disturbs me most about his "warning" from the judge.

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 14:33

I said quite clearly that I do not condone it at all. Not even sort of. What I did say was that the dogs' barking probably drove him to it. That is not condoning it at all.

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-19 14:46

I do get your point though - this "person" if one can call him that, obviously is a dangerous individual. This was just a good opportunity for me to vent - its been 13 years now. I did not know little yappy dogs lived this long, nor did I know that some dog owners could be so selfish. I discovered after a few questions this morning that none of these pooches ever go out for walks, nor do they ever sleep inside. I wonder why their owners even bother.

      delish7564 - 2012-07-19 23:34

Bless, 13 years is a long time but I've bad news for you, little dogs can live a very long time! I agree with you as to why people have dogs if they are not going to look after them properly. I personally don't agree with dogs being outside all day and night, I think that brings with it a whole range of problems, some of which you unfortunately seem to be experiencing!!! Considering there is the new law that dogs may only bark for 6 minutes in 1 hour otherwise they can be removed, I'm surprised they are still there........perhaps that's only in Cape Town!!!!!!!
