Johannesburg - Police have seized drugs with an estimated street value of R1.6m in Maitland, Cape Town, Warrant Officer November Filander said on Wednesday.

Police found the drugs when they went to a house on Tuesday in search of a man wanted in connection with a maintenance case.

"Upon their arrival the [police] saw through a kitchen window how the residents removed a black bag from the kitchen. When they entered the house, they found the bag containing five packets of tik," said Filander.

Four foreigner nationals were arrested on the scene, and would appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of possession of drugs.
