Durban - Two people were seriously injured in a high-impact head on crash on Rick Turner Avenue near Cato Manor in Durban on Wednesday.

Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics had received word of the accident and had rushed to the scene.

"Our ambulances and advanced life support paramedic arrived to find a police vehicle and a car had been in a head-on collision. The civilian vehicle had overturned and came to rest on its roof and the police sedan skidded to a stop near the side of the roadway," he said.

"Paramedics turned their attention to the injured occupants. Both were in a serious condition. They were... safely removed from the respective vehicles."

The cause of the crash was still unclear.
