Durban prosecutor gets R10 000 bail

Durban - A prosecutor accused of corruption was granted R10 000 bail in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said.

Phumzile Msimanga, 33, would appear in court again on 25 July, NPA spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson said.

The bail conditions prohibit Msimanga from applying for a passport, and require her to report to the Broad Street police station three times a week. She was also banned from communicating with the clerk in court F where she worked.

Msimanga allegedly demanded R1 000 from a lawyer to make a case of fraud and assault against his client disappear, Colonel Vincent Mdunge said on Tuesday. She was arrested after a trap was set and the money found in her possession.
