Johannesburg - A Matatiele councillor was fraudulently receiving two salaries for two top positions in the Eastern Cape, said the Congress of the People on Thursday.

Spokesperson Nkosifikile Gqomo said Sandile Sello, regional chairperson of the African National Congress was receiving a salary as a full-time portfolio head in the Matatiele local municipality as well as for his role as a full-time portfolio head in Alfred Nzo district municipality.

Cope claimed Sello had been officially sworn in as a member of the mayoral committee in Alfred Nzo despite his position at Matatiele.

Municipal Manager of Matatiele Tshepang Nakin denied any knowledge of this.

"What we know is that he was appointed to be a representative of the Matatiele local municipality at the Alfred Nzo district municipality," he said.

"We were not told of him being a full-time employee there."

The office of the Local Government MEC Mlibo Qoboshiane also denied having any knowledge of this.

"If this information is presented to us, we shall investigate, " said Qoboshiane's spokesperson, Mvusi Sicwetsha.

If you put all the ANC members in a sack and beat it with a crowbar - you could be sure that you would not be hitting the wrong one.

Just like the ghost teachers/ghost ministers/ghost pensioners etc. I wonder how many people are stealing 2 paychecks every month. I wish i knew how they do it - i also want 2 paychecks, will certainly help to have money left at the end of the month instead of counting the pennies. Oh but wait i am also honest, have morals and i am ethical - no hope for me i couldn't live with the guilt.

Lol - they have enough time to have two jobs. It's now a matter of owning two jobs, not working two jobs.

  • Blixum - 2012-09-14 08:36

Hehehehe. Nice one. We can learn from these guys...

The evidence is there - two payslips. Check at the bank, zuma. There is your evidence. Now act. Arrest him. No more big words and hot air. No long years of "suspension on full pay". There is your corruption, do something. Just once.

There's a lot of corruption in the eastern cape not only in matatiele but also in places like my hometown Sterkspruit. Today the entire community has decided to perform a stay away and put their feet down to the corruption of councillors that don't deliver any services to the people. The strike started early in the morning closing the roads going to alwal north and the free state. The people were voicing out their demands and like wise the police confiscate them. Its time our president did something about corruption in South Africa. If a person performs corruption they should be fired there are a lot of people who are unemployed and need jobs.
