Johannesburg - An Eastern Cape man was arrested in Butterworth after being found in possession of suspected Mandrax tablets worth an estimated R3 000 on the street, police said on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old man was walking along Grubb street, near the Butterworth bus rank, around 15:30, when police stopped him and found the 30 tablets, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

It was believed the drugs were bought in East London.

"He will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday," said Manatha.
