Eastern Cape man held for murder

Johannesburg - A man was arrested for allegedly murdering a 39-year-old man with a pick handle in Mdantsane, near East London, said Eastern Cape police on Sunday.

Captain Mluleki Mbi said the man, 29, was arguing with his girlfriend when the victim intervened around 21:00 on Friday.

The man left then allegedly returned with a pick handle and assaulted the 39-year-old man. He died at the scene.

Mbi said the man was later arrested and a case of murder opened.

He is expected to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court on Monday.
