Johannesburg - A 60-year-old man was severely injured in a farm accident in Bapsfontein, Ekhurhuleni on Tuesday morning, paramedics said.

The man was injured when his arm was caught in a tractor shaft, said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

Rescuers spent nearly 40 minutes trying to free the man's arm.

He sustained severe tissue damage to the arm and minor burn injuries to his chest.

However, he was in a stable condition and was taken to The Glynnwood Life Hospital for further care, she said.

Since when is a 60-year-old "elderly"?

      Raymond Van Den Brink - 2014-02-15 20:23

At what age in life do you become elderly Andrew? What is the male life expectancy? At 60 I do believe you qualify to be called elderly.

I wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he is registered for IOD.

Most probably not registered for IOD.
