'Eskom's load shedding schedule makes no sense'

Early on Thursday Eskom implemented Stage 2 load shedding for a suspected 15 hours - the largest shed so far of 2015. We spoke to some service providers in the Cape Town CBD to find out how they were affected. Watch. WATCH

Johannesburg - Eskom will no longer implement Stage 1 load shedding on Sunday morning as planned, because of what it called "the overnight return" of some generating units that had been taken offline for maintenance.

The power utility said the prognosis for load shedding on Sunday evening was medium to high, depending on the performance of its electricity generating plant.

The electricity supply system is extremely constrained and vulnerable, the utility says, meaning that any extra load or faults in the system may necessitate the need to go into load shedding.

Eskom says it will continue to communicate regularly on the status of the power supply situation.
