'Facebook rapist' in court for murder

Cape Town - Thabo Bester, the man dubbed the "Facebook rapist", appeared briefly in the Western Cape High Court on Thursday in connection with a model's murder.

Judge Robert Henney postponed the matter to May 2 for a plea and sentencing agreement.

Bester stands accused of murdering 26-year-old model Nomfundu Tyulu in Milnerton, Cape Town, in September last year. She was found stabbed in the chest in a room in a bed and breakfast.

He was sentenced to 50 years' imprisonment by a Durban court in October for raping and robbing two models.

Six correctional services guards surrounded Bester in court and later led him away, shackled, to be returned to Pollsmoor Prison.

He was dubbed the "Facebook rapist" because he used the website to get women to meet him. He sent them messages that international modelling scouts were interested in them and then met them in person. Armed with a knife, he then raped and robbed them

Sooner you are convicted and incarcerated for life the better. Wonder what has happened with the Sunday Rapist case.

PLEASE TO ALL POTENTIAL/YOUNG UPCOMING MODELS: Never ever accept ANY offers whatsoever via Facebook. NO professional modelling agency will contact you via Facebook to meet up with them, however there are a few that do, but girls don't get too vulnerable or gullible too easy. Your life and career is at stake, always ask someone that's familiar with this industry to check it out for you first before meeting up with strangers. This is happening way too much. Let's make a difference and look out for each other...

@Adele - I agree with your sentiments but I am confused when you say "no professional modelling agency will.... .... however there are a few that do..."

Unavidably, it's people like this one who need to be removed from the society (as they are a danger) the law just has to take it's course and a message should be sent out there that, crime in any form, has never been and will never be tolerated in this country. Shame on you 'bester'.
