Johannesburg - A family of five have been hospitalised for suspected food poisoning after they ate food from a supermarket, Johannesburg emergency services said on Saturday.

"Two adults and three children were taken to hospital on Friday evening after they complained of stomach pains," spokesman Robert Mulaudzi said.

He said the family earlier ate food which they bought from a supermarket in Kenilworth, South of Johannesburg.

No further details were available.

    Name and shame the supermarket!!!!

      Squeegee - 2012-06-23 15:46

For the sake of public safety the supermarket should be named.

Why is the supermarket not identified - is this super secrecy?

And they forgot to mention the bad leftovers from last night and the stuff that was left in their fridge for a month that they ate with the supermarket food....I would like to see them prove this accusation.

    Why is this news?

Must be a slow day @ the office News24. I've lost count of the amount of times I've gotten serious food poisoning from restaurants and supermarkets; perhaps I should also run to the news departments!

No Fannie, I eat @ very well-known restaurant chains as well as @ 3-, 4- and 5-star restaurants. As you mentioned in your comment the restaurant workers don't care, it's just a job to them.

Did they washed their hands before eating the food from the supermarket?
