Farmer robbed after trip to town

2012-06-10 07:31

Johannesburg -  A 57-year-old farmer was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money at his farm in Lichtenburg, North West police said on Saturday.

Sergeant Philani Nkwalase said the farmer was robbed on Friday, after returning from town.

He said the farmer allegedly withdrew money from a bank and went to buy some groceries.

"On his arrival at his farm house while busy unloading the groceries, two unknown suspects arrived driving a silver golf. The two armed suspects overpowered and pepper sprayed the victim and took off with his groceries and the undisclosed cash amount."

He said no injuries were reported and the two were still at large.

the cause of crime is poverty.crime knows no race.we need to tackle poverty.

      Stille - 2012-06-10 08:17

the cause of crime is gansta wannabee mofo's too lazy to work like honest people.

      edna.errenrich - 2012-06-10 08:26

Do poor people drive silver golfs??? Stop trying to justify your races actions

      sheda.habib - 2012-06-10 08:49

@Bambanani and @marumobongani NO RACE WAS MENTIONED. It could be a black farmer robbed by white guys. They could all be from the same race..... However it is your presumptions which have led to your RACIST comments that are more disturbing than the theft...

      obakeng.mmathapelo - 2012-06-10 09:13

To cut the long story short we don't know the race of the farmer nor the robbers. We are busy assuming and also blaming poverty and laziness. Did they mention poverty or laziness. Or only that the robbers are still at large. This is crime plain crime. So let's just draw back the race card and prepare ourselves to go to church. Alright everyone?

      norbert.schweighofer - 2012-06-10 10:32

If anyone thinks poverty will ever be eliminated you are simple minded. Poverty for some will always exist as long there are humans.

  • oscar.vanriel - 2012-06-10 07:50

So why mention the fact the the person is a farmer? This happen to allot of people all over the country on a daily basis and no one is saying, a teacher was robbed or a architect was robbed etc. Farm murders is one of the worst things that ever happened in South Africa but farmers are not more special than any other citizen of this country.

      zolisa.dlokovu - 2012-06-10 08:01

I agree why mention that 'a farmer'?

      obakeng.mmathapelo - 2012-06-10 08:03

      My point exactly. Amen

      Koos - 2012-06-10 09:44

Not so much predominant anymore Rob. The ANC has made sure of that and then these poor sods cry because food is becoming more expensive every day. Let them have their bread and NOT eat it.

  • Swapie - 2012-06-10 07:58

Just another day in lawless SA.

  • Sibusiso - 2012-06-10 08:10

      Sibusiso - 2012-06-10 08:35

@bongani. Smoking weed and surfing the internet at the same time is not wise. I suggest you delete your comment and retype it...using a dictionary.

      Brandon - 2012-06-10 08:56

@bongani. LOL! Read your last comment and then read my first comment. Get the point? PS. drink lots of water today otherwise you will have a terrible hangover tomorrow...

  • Johan - 2012-06-10 08:29

I despise the robbers and I feel sorry for the guy that got mugged, but he's lucky they didn't do more to him... Is the guy famous or something? Why wasn't my mugging put on the front page. Who do I speak to to get an interview, come on news24, don't leave me out in the cold...

  • Shirley Van Heerden - 2012-06-10 08:43

when I read the report my first thought was - Thank you Lord he was not killed. After reading your comment I'm wondering - do you even know what compassion and greatfulness means?

  • Mike Purchase - 2012-06-10 08:56

  • Richard.Poulton - 2012-06-10 09:43

  • Hudayfah - 2012-06-10 09:49

Can the moderator please stop the comments from the racist trolls from coming through. Everyday the same nonsense. Black this white that. Some of us are not worried what colour your skin is, we are here to have fruitfull discussions. We want to hear solutions and not further create more problems. We're all on this ship together.if it goes down all of us will drown. If it stays afloat all of us can enjoy the stay together.

      Deon Du Plessis - 2012-06-10 09:56

Amen to that brother!!!! That is the most sense i've read on the forum for a while, I also had enough of the crap!

      emile.marais - 2012-06-10 10:36

News24's forum is nothing more then a platform for extremist of all hues to spew their hate for each other. There is hardly any intelligent debate here, just a ridicules race debate on every article that descends into an ugly mud slinging match between two groups of hateful fools.

  • DC Gabara - 2012-06-10 10:12

Rob.. I appreciate your advice, but if it wasn't the ordinary white people oppressing black, then who was it? Please don't get me wrong I am not living in the apartheid regime, I dont find blame in white people, nothing gives me more joy than a white person being racist towards, if he is angry I can smile. My problem with this country is the Black man you negotiated with the enemy and told us to create a rainbow nation, and there only way oppressed black people were going to find peace is by getting educated. I might be another stupid black man for this comment but til this day a black man must go to the so called white schools to get any decent education. At the end of the day white people keep calling black man stupid because of a deal that benefited them

      fikile.makhaya - 2012-06-10 10:15

      On Point!!!!

      DC Gabara - 2012-06-10 10:40

@Rob... like it or not. I will be the 1st to agree with you with re to the ANC failing the black. unfortunately politics will in our country will always be based on our history and for me and many other people in SA, history tells us that white people are greedy and are willing to die and kill for that. Your comment about using my vote wisely that was almost convincing, but when it comes to my vote, rather the devil i know than the saint I dont know....

      emile.marais - 2012-06-10 10:48

DC Gabara, I agree with you. I might be white but I see your point. Although I would never be able to understand the world from a black man's point of view, I do believe black people need to be vocal against white supremacy in all its forms. I'm sick of racism and hate in this country, and the world in general. It needs to stop and if attacking the root cause of it is the solution then so be it. I cannot help being who I am but I do know that I do not like to be oppressed. So why do it to someone else? What ever happened to Human decency and respect?

  • giammep - 2012-06-10 10:31

Is it just me or does news24 daily have articles that spark debates on racism ?

The comments posted are very disturbing, this clearly shows that SA as a country needs a healing process. Kindly refrain from hurting us further, we cannot carry on like this. We need to support each other, build a healthy SA for the future of our kids. We can do better than this and we condemn all criminal activities against black/white. This is our. Country and we owe it that much.

      Edward Kamutasa - 2012-06-10 14:40

thats true my dear collegue united we stand

      Mike Purchase - 2012-06-10 21:03

Ncinci i agree but how does a country heal when the past becomes the present and future and the brainwashing that goes on,eish.I follow comments made on this site and its disturbing how splintered we really are.Unfortunately the ruling party is promoting disaster instead of preventing it.

      Werner Janse Van Rensburg - 2012-06-11 10:15

@ncici and kabelo, thumbs up and hats off gents!!! we are stuck in a time where our future will be as meagre and bleak as our past if everyone continue with racial mud slinging! The sins of the father must NOT be the sins of the son as we are the foundation of prosperity and assention into world leading ranks! Love the fact that white and black citizens of our wonderous country can join hands and build a prosperous South Africa together. I teach at a multi racial school and I can honestly say,the future of this country looks wonderous!!!

  • Mike Purchase - 2012-06-10 10:40

The bigger the target the easier it is to hit,i will never forget what these agents did to my 87 year old grandmother but they got what they asked for so agents carry on asking.

  • Mike Purchase - 2012-06-10 10:47

Rob that is the most sensible comment i have ever read in the media. In a normal day do you see blacks and whites these agents who go around tearing this country apart and we need to stop them.

  • Mike Purchase - 2012-06-10 10:49

    I wonder why Fannie

  • thabela.phathutshedzo - 2012-06-10 11:09

Don't be such a fool! The robbery was not racially motivated and only racist will divert it in2 racial. Is that hard to look @ the facts and stop these nonsense of racial hatred.. e@ t

  • DC Gabara - 2012-06-10 11:23

When Zuma was campaigning for Presidency he had so much heat going about him, rape, corruption, etc. Even the dumbest news24 journo could have discredited him for president. As much as I hate to admit it, the ANC were so smart that they gave SA exactly what we wanted, Juluis Malema, he stirred up racism so much that he grabbed all media the attention and JZ was only good enough for the back pages. My point is crime is an international problem and has always being like that for so many years. But we cant deal with it because we always focused on racism. We sell out our country because we are eager to blame blacks, whites, etc. Racism is the reason we can never deal with the real issues. If we address the Gov wrong doing is a racial slur and people have to be divided, that will always happen regardless of who is in power. news24 will always write about stuff like these because they're greedy and it sells

  • Motshelo Mabuza - 2012-06-10 12:24

SA is beautiful, people say whatever they like. Maybe this is a healing process.

  • Mike Purchase - 2012-06-10 20:57
