Farmers hunt down robbers

2012-08-17 10:04

Johannesburg - Four men who broke into a Groblersdal farmer's house and shot his dog in an attempted robbery have been arrested after a 12-hour manhunt involving the local community, Beeld reported on Friday.

Georgie Mills, 61, was asleep at home when he was confronted by four armed robbers, who shot his dog.

Mills alerted his security company, and the men ran off. Around 20 local farmers and a police officer then began searching for them.

With the help of a helicopter, the men were seen hiding in a game reserve about 10km from the scene of the crime, and were arrested.

They were found to be in possession of a packet of cigarettes belonging to Mills, and an unlicensed firearm.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronel Otto said the men would appear in the Groblersdal Magistrate's Court on Friday, on charges of attempted murder and robbery.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Regardless of the crime or status of alleged perpetrator, making an example of them, as highlighted sensationally in this case, will send out the message that crimes like this will not be tolerated! Jeez, I wish more ppl were as tenacious as these farmers! Big up the boer!

Georgie Mills, 61, was asleep at home when he was confronted by four armed robbers, who shot his dog. These are NOT robbers; they are TERRORISTS bent on makin South Africa Ungovernable. Haleluya G Mills has not become another Statistic of violence. I wonder if "his security company" is Police Comissioner Riah Phiyega's SAPS. I suppose you do not want to NAME the Security Company - they and the Neighbourhood Watch in that area did a good job! Pity the terrorists will come out on bail, and their case will be thrown out of court as they did not kill anyone AND they have Constitutional Rights!
