Pietermaritzburg - A farmworker was killed when his tractor overturned near Howick in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands on Monday afternoon, paramedics said.

The tractor rolled and came to rest on its side along Caversham Valley Road, with the driver near the front wheel, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.

"The man, believed to be in his 50s suffered traumatic and fatal injuries. The tractor may have had some mechanical problem, which caused the driver to lose control."

      wat se jy Bardy?

      FlowingRivers - 2012-01-31 09:03

@Bardy.....I think ur comment shud have read.If it's not the blacks killing the farmers, it's the farmers killing their workers......cos if u can interpret the above article correctly , u wud understand that it was a farmworker the hands of his baas, who made him drive a tractor with mechanical problems.U cud change ur other sentiment as well saying that being a farmworker 'is one of the most dangerous jobs to be in these days'

Lets get the facts straight guys. the Farm worker's name was Clifton Mlhongo aged 30. I was informed by my farm manager that the worker with out authorization had taken the tractor to his house in lidgeton during his lunch break. on the way back the worker did lose control of the tractor around a corner due to the fact that he was speeding! The tractor was practically brand new.

      FlowingRivers - 2012-01-31 11:29

      Dead man tells no tales.......!

      PointBlank - 2012-01-31 12:20

@Flowingriver, maybe but a racist like you will always speculate.

  • Jason - 2012-01-31 11:06

Talking from experience its rather difficult to roll a tractor, unless you are driving iot like its hot. Its the same as all the Taxi accidents, the driver always seems to lopse control. In other words it was the Farmers fault, or the taxi was faulty-i.e. shifting spanner steering wheel broke off!!

      Martin_Peter_Law - 2012-01-31 13:05

It's not that difficult to role a tractor mate - I have. Some of your 8 and more wheeled tractors are designed to work on steep slopes, but the small, narrow ones used in orchards, etc. really weren't made for gunning corners

This is my first comment ever on the site. Today I'm angry enough to comment. Everytime I read comments it's always blacks vs whites. I don't even like to put a label on skin colour, but for the purpose of the day to day comments i'll says (blacks and whites). SHAME ON YOU SOUTH AFRICA, green, white, blue, black SHAME ON YOU. Crime is crime irrespective of colour. RACISM is kepta alive, by all you 'intelligent' commentators. Swear at me or make any excuses, but SHAME ON YOU.

Dear Mr flowing riva stop being a dumb ass really it is speculation at this time he was most likely driving the tractor like a taxi driver with no regard to his own life or the BAAS property as usual so please don't highlight you ignorance and zuma mentality here for all to see. and don't get started on farm murders they are barbaric and uncalled for and only animals with zero emotions can act out such violent crimes. and as for the most dangerous job these days well i think many will agree its being a ......WHITE SOUTH AFRICAN... not a F**king farm worker. shame these people with the same mentality of our under educated and corrupt government.
