Fearless guard foils flawless robbery

2012-10-30 08:37

Johannesburg - A gang of criminals thought they had committed the perfect robbery and were just about to make their getaway when they crossed paths with a fearless security guard.

Johan Meyer told The Star newspaper how he had been informed of a robbery at a storage facility in the area and immediately went looking for the culprits.

“I was in a bulletproof Nissan bakkie so I wasn’t scared and chased them,” said Meyer, who provided security to businesses in the Fordsburg area.

Meyer sped after the gang who got a huge fright and jumped a red light, crashing their car.

The gang then got into another car but police had by this time been alerted and were able to stop them from escaping.

Eight men were apprehended and would be charged with the theft of about 60 boxes of takkies.
They would appear in court soon.
