Durban - Four men were arrested on Thursday for possession of unlicensed firearms, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Colonel Jay Naicker said four firearms were recovered in Umsinga and another two were found, with ammunition, in the Muden area during a sting operation.

"The operation was aimed at reducing the large number of illegal firearms in the area, which has been identified as the main contributing factor for crime," he said.

The men, aged between 41 and 75, would appear in the Msinga Magistrate's Court on Thursday afternoon.
