Five arrested for speeding in Ekurhuleni

Johannesburg - Five people were arrested on Sunday morning for speeding on the N12 on the East Rand, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

The four men and one woman were caught driving at speeds ranging from 162km/h to 171km/h in a 120km/h zone between 05:30 and 11:00. This occurred between the Barbara turnoff and the Edenvale bridge, spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said.

They were charged with reckless or negligent driving at the Bedfordview police station and would appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.

They were all released on a R1 000 bail each.
