Durban - Peak hour traffic on Durban’s outer ring road (N2) came to a standstill near Queen Nandi Drive after a car burst into flames on Wednesday.

While not obstructing traffic, the flaming car prompted rubber-necking from motorists which resulted in major congestion.

Crisis Medical spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said what caused the car to burst into flames was not yet apparent.

“Luckily no one was injured this morning. Thanks to the swift action from eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services, the vehicle was quickly extinguished,” he said.

“Traffic was severely affected as passing motorists slowed down to view the action.”
