Foreigners warned to leave Alex

Johannesburg - Residents in the township of Alexandra, in the north of Johannesburg, have put up posters warning foreigners to vacate RDP houses, police said on Tuesday.

"They are delivering pamphlets to those living in RDP houses," said Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela.

The SABC reported that residents had given the foreigners seven days to vacate the houses in the township.

Residents had hung up posters which read: "You are violating our rights to own our RDP houses".

In one of the letters handed out, they said: "The residents of Alexandra don't want ... xenophobia unless you give them a cause to do so", the public broadcaster reported.

In another letter they said: "We demand that you vacate at your own free will without being pushed like animals or aliens".

Tensions were simmering between residents and foreigners.

I don`t love, them, send the back to their own worthless countries. Anywho, SA will join the ranks of worthless countries soon.

The RDP houses occupied by foreigners to my mind shows that the socalled poor did not need those houses in the first place. If they did they would still be living in them. Black South African are not racist. They just do not like any other race or people that taking away what they think they should get free.

We as South Africans speak as if we do not live South of the African continent. Our biggest buyers are countries from Africa. We call them foreigners and we are doing great business with them. They are listening and one day they will combine against SA and it won't be nice. The ANC has a vision, oh I love Thabo Mbeki. Africans must wake up and unite, look at the EU there is Unity, United Kingdom, United States of America and now they are talks to bring Canada, Mexico and a few countries to be part of USA that currently are not. Our countries were divided to be so small so that the imperialists would benefit for years to come. We are so small such that we can never be profitable in Africa. We praise the fact that Gadaffi has gone but he tried to show us something about the goal of a United States of African Nations (USAN). I do not worry about our white pals here who still promote the divide and rule policy that still gives them the power to say they can live as they wish and we live in RDP. I kind of agree with Tokyo because free is not good, we must work to get house in Sandton. Aim high and get somewhere in between brothers you make me angry.

I do not condone any actions of violence, but, I do agree that the RDP houses should go to South Africans first. Its our tax money and our people should stand to benefit from it.

What a mess let the Minister of Housing sort this out, that's what he is paid for, not to talk crap on TV.

  • Demola Adebiyi - 2011-10-19 11:42

Foreigner are not the ones that allocated themselves inside your houses you have to blame corrupt housing for taking money form foreigners and allocate them in your houses instead of leaving them in their shacks. But think twice South Africans were in neighbouring countries for many years in exile. How can we fight all being blacks? What about people form Lesotho,Nigeria,Botswana etc please bana ba thari lets make peace in our land.Blame your government workers for being corrupt and most of them had already resigned because of that corruption they had done of moving people during the nite or weekends in Rdp houses in Alexandra.'FASE KA CORRUPTION FASE'Minister of housing please you are suppose to sort all this rubbish before we fight each other

demand with your vote, not with violence.

Refugees from poorer neighbouring countries include many immigrants from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi and others, representing a large portion of the informal sector. With high unemployment levels amongst poorer South Africans, xenophobia is prevalent and many people born in South Africa feel resentful of immigrants who are seen to be depriving the native population of jobs, a feeling which has been given credibility by the fact that many South African employers have employed migrants from other countries for lower pay than South African citizens, especially in the construction, tourism, agriculture and domestic service industries. Illegal immigrants are also heavily involved in informal trading. Many immigrants to South Africa continue to live in poor conditions, and the South African immigration policy has become increasingly restrictive since 1994. "Let' us not thinking like an unconscious mind" it's a right for anyone to seek a better living condition. - Say no to xenophobia mindless people -

I think it's quite funnny that the Alexandra residents that want the foreigners out call themselves "bona fide"

  • Mfundisitshikaswidyoho - 2011-10-20 11:24

before we start that xenophobic bull s''''t lets first clean our house, my own brothers are selling those houses to the foreigners because of greed so why dont we just find those selling the houses. lets clean the inside before the yard.

Why are we Africans always judging one another.... It is a shame to see a black man blaming his own black man for nothing. It is also sad to see south Africans forgetting that the same foreigners help them to gain their independence. Why discrimination one another.. Instead of fighting for the right things you end up fighting for the wrong things. Learn to love one another.
