Four killed in Free State bakkie crash

Bloemfontein - Four men died in a bakkie crash near Bothaville in the Free State on Tuesday night, ER24 said on Wednesday.

Four people were injured.

Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived at the accident scene on the R30, they found two crashed vehicles in the veld.

They found four men who had died from multiple injuries near an overturned bakkie.

They also found one person trapped under a bakkie and three other injured people.

''Rescue services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the patient from beneath the vehicle before he was treated by advanced life support paramedics,'' said Meiring.

They were all taken to hospital in Bothaville by ambulance.
