Johannesburg - Police spokesperson Lyungelo Dlamini said on Sunday that four people were shot and injured at a music festival in Alberton on Saturday.

Two people attending the Deep in the Woods house music festival allegedly had an argument when the one pulled out a gun and fired shots, he said in a statement.

Three people were wounded.

The man believed to have fired the shots was also wounded when a police reservist shot at him.

"Police in Alberton are investigating three cases of attempted murder following a shooting incident at a concert in Meyers Farm on Saturday and a 9mm pistol had been seized."

Three people were in a critical condition in hospital and another had been discharged.
