Cape Town - Fred van der Vyver, who was once accused of the murder of his girlfriend Inge Lotz, got married on December 17, Die Burger reported on Wednesday.

According to the publication his wedding to Elmari Dorfling was held at Riebeek-Kasteel in the Cape winelands.

Van der Vyver was implicated in Lotz's murder in 2005, but was acquitted in 2007.

He then launched a malicious prosecution case against the minister of police, claiming R46m in damages. In August the Western Cape High Court found in his favour. The matter was expected to go to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein this year.

The amount to be awarded to him would be determined in a high court.

Lotz's murder remains unsolved.

Is it just me or is the quality of reporting really dismal on this site, the sub header reads 'Fred van der Vyver, who was acquitted of the murder of his girlfriend Inge Lotz, has reportedly married his girlfriend' This should read 'Fred van der Vyer who was aquitted of the murder of his then girlfriend Inge Lotz has reportedly married his new girlfriend... the way this is written it almost implies he married the murdered ex girlfriend..

Peter, surely he deserves to be happy. He was acquitted and is now happily married. You are a an old man who is a pessimist. Are you perhaps sleeping with a hammer under your pillow? Be happy for them even if you're not happy with yourself.

And this story is of interest to the public because????

Because, as Julie Rigby pointed out, there is no question that he was framed by the police. I would think that, at least, is of pretty fundamental interest to the public. His marriage probably isn't, but that's how things go with prominent people.

    Married to Dorfling? Not surprise...

People just do not read the reports properly here. Nowhere does it imply that he married Inge. It also states that he won the case for damages however this case is still out there and unsolved. I hope the Dorfling girl he has married knows what she is doing. If anyoneis to blame for the death and unsolved murder of Inge Lotz it is the police who totally messed up the crime scene.
