Friends film teen 'raping' drunk girl

2013-03-07 09:03

Bloemfontein - A matric boy from a well-known Welkom high school has been arrested after he was caught having sex in a public park with a girl who appeared to be unaware of what was going on.

Friends of the boy had apparently filmed the sex act on their cellphones, reported Volksblad.

The girl was apparently drunk.

The boy was egged on loudly by his friends and the couple were so rowdy that a neighbour came outside to check what was going on.

A taxi driver also stopped to investigate and the two men pulled the boy off the girl, who even in her drunken state threatened to complain to the police because they had been interrupted.

She then left with the boy, who is her boyfriend.

Hours later, her underwear was found by police and her parents in the park. When she sobered up the girl apparently couldn’t remember the incident at all.

Blood was drawn to establish how much she had been under the influence.

The boy is being charged with rape as the girl, if she was very drunk, could not have given consent for the sex act even though both are older than 16.

The girl’s parents had apparently been looking for her all afternoon as she didn’t come home.

She was found at someone’s home at 18:00 and the police were called when it became apparent that something was wrong.

Police were tracking down the boys who had taken the cellphone footage and warned that spreading the footage was also an offence.

The boy would remain in custody and would appear in court on Friday for a bail hearing.

  • Henry - 2013-03-07 09:30

I agree with the justice minister's statement when he says that sex crimes courts are necessary. It seems as if rape is becoming a national sport amongs our youth these days. I still insisit that the law, shoud take it's course.

I think exposure of porn material should be banned.

      Desperate.Dan61 - 2013-03-07 10:18

What's Porn got to do with it? 30 Years ago we had Scope Magazine which is so far removed from Porn, and Playboy and Porn were almost unheard of but still their was Rape and Welkom at the time had the Highest Teenage Pregnancy rate in the country but that's another story (I went to school in the FS I know)The Fault is with the Parents. No Control over their kids. No Discipline anymore. Crying shame.

  • Monique Naude - 2013-03-07 09:44

And here is government wanting to allow kids as young as 10 to have sex? Their priorities are completely wrong, and the age should be 18, full stop!!!!

  • Paul De la Rey - 2013-03-07 09:50

Lock them both up. This kind of behaviour by BOTH parties is inexcusable. They should also arrest the peson who sold the alcohol.

  • Shirley Thomsen - 2013-03-07 09:51

  • riaan.roetz - 2013-03-07 09:55

Disgusting behavior for minors...when they are older they become the serial rapists in an already screwed up country. You can't blame education, when they come from a well known school, so who is getting the blame this time...apartheid again?

  • janice.mcmaster.92 - 2013-03-07 09:55

    Bloody hell! What next?

  • Winifred Watson - 2013-03-07 09:58

Friends stand by and watch and video the shenanigans.....sorry FRIENDS what friends will allow this to happen to anyone, I dont believe the need to be even called friends, more like spectators watching a sex exhibition. Whats going on with youngsters these days, getting drunk, having sex exhibitions in public, where is their self respect, morals etc. Come on girls, start picking up your morals getting drunk and lower yourself to this, is really sick. Looks like the next best business is soon to be the porno game, are they auditioning for top TV porno channel. Parents need to check up on their children, especially daughters, this type of thing is dangerous.

  • Leonard Kwenda - 2013-03-07 10:00

Same story different days this is absolute nonsense

  • Motlhatlhedi WA Mogaka - 2013-03-07 10:03

      Kopraal Sylvester S Mohloli - 2013-03-07 10:16

i would think having sex with some1 who is clearly drugged can not be classified as consensual? last i checked if its not consensual its rape...i might be wrong :)

  • riad.mahomed - 2013-03-07 10:05

I think the law needs to be much more rigid when it comes to establishments selling alcohol to anyone under the permissible age as well as taking legal action against any youngster that’s found to be drunk. This could have been yet another Anene Booysen (17 years old) situation where she was drinking at an establishment and in a drunken state, was brutally raped and left for death. I think it is society’s responsibility to put a stop to this since we simply allow, and who knows in many instances encourage this type of behavior i.e. underage drinking to continue right under our noise.

  • lablue.phoenix - 2013-03-07 10:06

She had to drink A LOT, not to be able to remember anything. There is a possibility that it is rape for sure, but isn't there a possibility also, that maybe when she got caught that she made up the "can't remember anything" story? Either way, it's a real disgusting act by all the parties involved.

  • lynda.pitcher.1 - 2013-03-07 10:11

name and shame.....I don't care how young they are, if they are old enough to rape they are old enough to face the consequences

  • Tanya Booysen - 2013-03-07 10:14

We are slowly becoming desensitized by this daily occurrence of rape its happening in all walks of life what's more disturbing is that its happening among the youth who are supposed to be the future of the country,we blame parents, schools, society, music, alcohol, drugs etc and still we cannot stop this horrendous act

  • shannon.moffett.9 - 2013-03-07 10:14

    Great!

South Africa is bleeding -at Least someone with pwer should control the situation.

  • Ghelibhabi - 2013-03-07 13:15

No sympathy for either of them, she wasnt that drunk that she couldnt give out to the taxi drivers for interupting them, she knew what was going on, and allowed it to happen, she was also aware of the 'friends' cheering them on, drunkeness is a convenient excuse for this sordid behaviour, they're teenagers, hormones with legs, and lets be honest with ourselves, the lad was not going to let the opportunity to pass him by, if shes willing to let herself be degraded in this way, what respect will he have for her. Hey we were all teenagers once, so lets not pretend that this is a SA problem. This sort of thing goes on all over the world with teenagers and adults, its a parenting problem, a self worth and self respect issue for the individuals involved. the only lesson to be learnt here is one of better parenting.
