Johannesburg - An undisclosed amount of money and a firearm were stolen in a robbery at the N1 City Mall in Goodwood, Cape Town, on Thursday morning, police said.

Two security guards were leaving the mall around 10:15 after withdrawing cash for a client when they were accosted by four men, said Captain Frederick van Wyk.

The men, all armed with handguns, held the guards up and took the cashbox and a firearm.

No shots were fired and no one was injured, Van Wyk said.

The robbers fled in a white Nissan 1400 bakkie. No arrests had been made by Thursday afternoon.

A case of armed robbery was being investigated and anyone with relevant information was requested to contact the police.

I've had my car broken into today, for the fourth time in a month. Luckily, this time I left nothing to steal. Now, though, I don't have one lock that opens properly, and that includes the glove box. Is it the season, or something? If I catch one of these thieving tw@ts, I am going to do a Vinnie Jones with their head and the goor I find them going through! I'm glad the guards are safe, this time, not like the poor lads up in Jo'burg.

It sounds to well planed like they knew the guards where going to be there at that time

Lolest, they escaped in a 1400 bakkie, so there was no security vehicle to chase after them. A city like Cape Town is perceived as a small heaven for its inhabitants
