Gangster's mom says sorry to child's mother

2012-09-19 08:24

Cape Town - A Hanover Park mother handed her gangster son over to police because she knew he was involved in a shooting in which a 6-year-old girl was seriously injured.

Angelique Johnson also went to the girl’s mother, Louise van Wyk, and the women - who are friends and neighbours - hugged each other and wept, reported the Cape Times.

“I want to say I’m very sorry for what my son did. It was wrong and he must be punished,” Johnson said at a local meeting attended by about 400 people, including Van Wyk.

“I took him to police. I want to say to Louise I’m so very sorry.”

Leeane van Wyk is still in a critical condition at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.

Two suspects were arrested shortly after the incident in Hanover Park.

Mothers know everything. If all Moms were like this I bet we would have half the crimes on the streets. A big up to all Moms and this one in particular.

Very tragic story this is. Must have been hard for the mother to turn in her son. Take my hat of to her, why can't there be more people that have a heart and respect for others life in this world like her :)

This is the 'end-user' end of the underworld. .... the children end ... Gangsterism is fueled by illicit drugs and 'weapon - power' The 'end-user' threat to children of 2012 starts in 2002. If the Business end was targeted then the threat to children should disappear. --> the Son should be under different influence. The 'end-user' threat of 2022 will only exist if the current threat is not destroyed.

A very tough thing to do, but goes to show this mother still has morals and values which unfortunately the son obviously rebelled against. Tough love is a very hard decision for any parent to make so I take my hat off to this mom.. I pray that both mothers will be able to deal with this tragedy and most of all that little Leeane van Wyk will make a full recovery...

Most of Mothers, Wives and Girlfriends know all about criminal activities done by sons, husbands and boyfriends. And if we could get people like this mother to do the right thing, we would go somewhere.

My heart bleeds for these mothers. Where are the fathers of these children? Where are the men who are suposed to be role models for these children? May Almighty Father in heaven look down upon the cries and tears of His precious children, and grant them favor, strength and wisdom.

Big Up to u Mumi! I wish all our Mumi\z out there could do the same. No amount of covering up for our kids is helping them. Come let us all do what's right to help our kids also do what's right.

  • iwance.wasdere - 2012-09-19 09:21

Wow! What a brave woman! You have my respect Mrs. Johnson.

  • eradingoana - 2012-09-19 09:22

Our country still needs parents like Ms Johnson, parents who believe that the behaviour of the child in the street is linked to family and will affect its reputation. The strong woman put aside the so called children 's rights and showed the country that her children will always be under her rule unlike politicians who mislead some parents while they discipline their children. Our country is becoming to corrupt that people will leave behind and when they arrive at a destination, tell the people they found that you did not want to come with them.
