Gauteng health officials block sheriff

2012-12-14 08:43

Johannesburg - A sheriff of the court has been blocked from entering the Gauteng health department to attach desks and computers, it was reported on Friday.

The Star reported that the sheriff, Lutendo Mukwevho, was blocked by two department officials on Thursday.

He was trying to get into health MEC Hope Papo's office to attach 400 computers and hundreds of desks because the department apparently owes a medical supply company R280 000.

The newspaper reported that the department ignored a warrant of execution of moveable property issued in May.

The officials accused Mukwevho of being disrespectful.

"I'm not fighting and I don't care if it is the MEC or not. I'm just doing my job," Mukwevho was quoted as saying.

Bravo! You do your job well!

      PrettyUsefulArt - 2012-12-14 08:57

Yeah. But how bloody arrogant are they to think they are above the law, eh? Sheesh.

      squeegee.pilot - 2012-12-14 09:24

Take the cops with you and arrest the MEC or anyone who stops you...

      danie.strydom.7 - 2012-12-14 15:56

give that sheriff a star, and a bells ...

  • Killbot79 - 2012-12-14 08:47

And you are perfectly within the law to do that as well, it's just this corrupt governement doesn't pay for outside contracts. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander right? Or is it the ANC is above the law?

      alan.jerrold - 2012-12-14 09:28

ANC - here's news for you: you are NOT ALLOWED to obstruct the Sheriff of the Court. So, Sheriff, please return with the police, arrest those two department officials, and then take all the computers. The ANC is a 100% useless organisation that doesn't pay its bills, is lazy and inept, and thinks it is above the law. It isn't, and a wake-up is coming.

  • lydonmcg - 2012-12-14 08:49

Lock them up for obstruction of justice!

  • morne.nortier.98 - 2012-12-14 08:51

Well arrest them for obstruction of justice. Simple.

      clive.wannenburg - 2012-12-14 09:27

This was issued in May and they are still talking about it, any one else would have had the cops enforce the court order.

  • gary.desousa.5 - 2012-12-14 08:54

Whats this thuggish breaking the law type behaviot by this department, another example of "disrespect" of the law. You have to be respectful of people who do not pay the bills??

  • christo.pretorius.3532 - 2012-12-14 08:54

Not taken responsibility for anything. Ignoring courts, citizens etc. Everything will come tumbling down.

  • odupreez - 2012-12-14 09:03

What has she done to earn respect? , and this was an illegal action and the sheriff should have returned with the police and did his job that he is paid for, and the obstructors should have been placed under arrest for obstruction of justice, and should sit in jail untill Tuesday next week.

      lutendo.mukwevho1 - 2012-12-14 22:58

If the Sheriff come to my place with a court order the only only thing i can do is to allow the sheriff to do his job if u stop him section 101 of act will appear

  • kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-14 09:09

No one in this government takes responsibility for their actions, or inactions!

  • luviwe.jay - 2012-12-14 09:15

Lawlessness in action and on the road to anarchy at 360km/ph.

  • tresso.sven - 2012-12-14 09:17

Just shows you the ANC are like children playing a game. Everyone has to follow their rules( also known as the law)but when said rules are used against them they either change them or ignore them..well done ANC you have shown me what to do next time you want my Taxes I will just say NO.

      tresso.sven - 2012-12-14 09:21

And am just waiting for the ignorant fanatic who calls us all racists. Lol

      victor.mendes1 - 2012-12-14 09:29

And yesterday we the public were urged to comply with the e-toll ruling and respect the courts.

  • paulo.teixeira.39948 - 2012-12-14 09:22

But arent they above the law? well they act like it!

  • vernon.samuel.7 - 2012-12-14 09:23

Hmm, so government wants motorists to respect the court's decision on e-tolling, but they have scant respect for the court's authority themselves. Nice example to set folks.

  • Erna - 2012-12-14 09:29

Why were these two officials not arrested? Is the law to be obeyed by everyone but not the anc? Once again it show's their arrogancy.

  • roy.wadhams.1 - 2012-12-14 09:30

Arrest the whole bloody lot of maaifoedies and put them in jail. They are trying to cover up their ineptness and corruption.

  • Eterni80 - 2012-12-14 09:30

the cANCer handbook defines laws as: don't apply to us.

  • jeremy002 - 2012-12-14 09:32

Blocked because they can block them. Why did the sherrif not pitch up with the police. The lawlessness continues.

  • robby.setzer - 2012-12-14 09:38

The mec in question is in contempt of court

  • sarel.koen - 2012-12-14 09:48

If Papo's officials blocked the sheriff after a court order, I think she must spend her weekend in jail.

Dear Sherriff, have you not already seen by now that there are certain people who are above the Law. So don't risk it please, cause there is no-one above them who will help you.

  • kuno.tschumi.5 - 2012-12-14 10:33

Health MEC not following the rules of the court, president not handing over tapes even after a court order, correctional service moron not dealing with a parole even after a court order. when will someone put the foot down and put these morons, thieves and criminals behind bars. a total disgrace...

  • 5nomad8 - 2012-12-14 10:44
