Kimberley - A 13-year-old girl is set to appear in court this week on charges of raping a little child and murdering another, it was reported on Monday.

The primary school pupil from Jan Kempdorp in the Northern Cape was arrested in connection with the murder of a 2-year-old girl and the rape of a 4-year-old girl and appeared in court last Friday, the Diamond Fields Advertiser reported.

The teenager allegedly pushed 2-year-old Refilwe Ramohlabi into a dam and drowned her.

There were no details of the rape charge but police did confirm that the accused is facing a charge of raping a 4-year-old girl, the Advertiser said.

Rumours have started swirling in the community that the accused child is involved in Satanism and witchcraft.

Her case is set to continue on Monday, police said.
