Girl, 5, raped by three men

2012-06-18 09:47

Johannesburg - A man has appeared in court for allegedly raping a 5-year-old Limpopo girl, according to a report on Monday.

The Star newspaper said this was the third time that the Grade R pupil had been raped in Mmamatsha village, in the Ga-Molepo area, since 2010.

The first rape case against her, in December 2010, was reportedly provisionally withdrawn, pending DNA results and a social worker's report, police spokesperson Constable Moses Molepo told The Star.

In May this year, the girl was allegedly raped again. In this case, a 28-year-old man was arrested on a charge of rape.

Last Wednesday, the girl was raped for a third time. A man was arrested and appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Friday.

She was reportedly raped while walking to school in the last two instances.

The 2010 incident happened after she was left in the care of her 13-year-old aunt while her parents attended a funeral.

      But faulty

      mlungisi.botha - 2012-06-18 15:55

@joe.farmer: I'm also selling mine...initially bought with great hope! Willing to exchange it for castration kit for which there's a greater need!

  • Ashmolsan3 - 2012-06-18 10:09

The parents should also be investigated, how does a 5 year old gets raped in the first place? 3 times it can't be random rapes, the parents knows something

      arthur.hugh - 2012-06-18 11:04

So true. The system has failed this poor child, she should have been taken to a place of safety long ago - obviously her parents do not look after her - 13 year old "aunt" says it all.

      Jacqui - 2012-06-18 11:33

Surely this child should have been taken to a place of safety. Oh! I forgot we are in South Africa, places of safety do not exist here.

  • elkita.robbertse - 2012-06-18 10:10

We need to get a leader so that this tragic things can stop. With Zuma it will go on and on.

      Shellerjc - 2012-06-18 10:32

I fail to see how the President can stop rape? rape is an individual act - If you meant that rapists whould not be let of with a slap on the wrist and that is why the President shoujdl step in, then yes I agree, Then he should pass down stricter laws against rapists, murderers etc.

      Dorothea - 2012-06-18 10:32

eltika, i think that these issues go far deeper than who is president. come on, i think that it is a little farfetched by blame jacob for all the men in this country who like banging infants and young children. there is a categoric lapse in morality to reduce a country to this dreadful level. i am no supporter of the ANC, but I am very doubtful that ANY leader would make a difference... sadly i think that SA is doomed. when you reach the point where so many people seem to have developed a taste for grannies and infants, i think that it is time to switch the lights off....

      jannie.beirowski - 2012-06-18 10:45

No, we do not blame the president for this spesific rape. We do blame him for the general feeling that everything goes in this country. He is allowing the criminal-feeling to reign by example, by allowing theft from government, by appointing well-known criminals in leading positions. This creates the atmosphere that to do anything is OK,and if not, the police are so understaffed, untrained, criminal-like in their behaviour that you will not be caught. If caught and sentenced, you will have served a great deal of your sentence before even being tried because the justice system takes years to pass sentence. Yes, we blame the president!

      ali.denewade - 2012-06-18 10:58

This has nothing to do with the President...anyway, the man got arrested as he would have if, for example Zele, ran the country...can we not use this as political debates and at least sympathies for the poor kid regardless of her skin colour???!! Like really

  • thapelo.monamodi - 2012-06-18 10:13

Thtz bad news happnd tht gal...i wonder why rapist are doing this to young chldrn..they deserve to be punishd,nt jail bt a great punishment!

  • meagan.pollock1 - 2012-06-18 10:14

My heart bleeds for this young girl ... and the government seriously needs to do something to stop this from happening again. If they can make such an issue about a stupid painting they can definitely do something about an innocent 5 year girl been raped 3 times ... Epic fail on the governments side for keeping her safe and protected after the first incident ...

  • Alan - 2012-06-18 10:17

Seeing as we don't have a death penalty and as such can't rid our society of this scum, why do we not brand them to make them easily identifiable?

  • michael.rampatla - 2012-06-18 10:18

They must chop off the spear

      alvin.ntsethe - 2012-06-18 10:25

i 2nd u on that, chop thier ''mshini'' off

  • Phae - 2012-06-18 10:18

This story is almost unbelievable. SA must introduce castration for rapists of children. Sounds like a complete social breakdown in this community. Surely this child and other youngsters should never walk to school alone in this dangerous place, but in groups with older kids to protect them.

  • cindy.naude.79 - 2012-06-18 10:23

i'm curious... why does a 5 year old child walk to school on her own?? and as far as i am aware, it is ILLEGAL to leave a minor child in the care of a minor child, the legal age as far as i know is 16?!? why was this poor little girl not removed to a place of safety after the FIRST incident? why were the parents not charged with neglect?!? now that poor child will NEVER have a chance of a normal life, most women can't cope with ONE rape, how on earth must a 5 year old cope with THREE? damn, this breaks my heart!

  • hsebolelo - 2012-06-18 10:23

    Girl 5, walkin to school!\r\n...

  • tsietsi.koza - 2012-06-18 10:23

Such ppl are danger to the society we live in they need to be placed where they belong Jail.

      sharon.truebodyvice - 2012-06-18 13:43

Jail is too good for these sick bastards.........thats why I gave a down thumb......I agree with castration and branding as well as a lobotomy because he/she might just wanna start killing coz it cant get it on ........thats my few cents worth

  • bg - 2012-06-18 10:24

This poor girl. So shocking to hear. Who would do such terrible things to a child? Shocking

  • dulcie.theron - 2012-06-18 10:25

This child should be removed from her parents and sent to a place of safety!!!!

  • marius.vandenberg.77 - 2012-06-18 10:26

This means she was only three when this first happened? This is totally sick or what is happening to SA? The rest of the world think we are barbarrick this goes to prove that we are!!

  • romy.nomis - 2012-06-18 10:28

Disgusting that a 5 year old, will NEVER EVER trust anyone in her life! Including her parents and our justice system who should PROTECT her ! SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • charmaine.mcdonald2 - 2012-06-18 10:29

If it were up to me as an individual, to punish these rapists, I would cane them and also cut off their penis. Our government does not want to implement the law of floging these rapists in public.

  • gavin.lott.9 - 2012-06-18 10:29

    So sad.

  • Tari897 - 2012-06-18 10:30

Not once but 3 times!!! why does she walk to school alone? at 5?? My 6 year old doesnt play in the garden alone, cos we live in a sick society that thinks rape is normal!!!!

  • ndyeboreginaldmazawule - 2012-06-18 10:33

    Sick sick sick.

  • Sagin - 2012-06-18 10:35

outrageous. how can this poor little girl ever have a normal life. this must be the sickest place on earth. jail the parents. after being raped twice before they still make her walk to school on her own. what parent would do that?

      sharon.truebodyvice - 2012-06-18 13:47

The funeral was more important because u get free food and an outing oh btw at these funerals it could last for days because all they wanna do if eat as much as they can and the go home and put on a sad face while the kids are dying

  • nokubonga.bongiemaxwele - 2012-06-18 10:43

This is bad, no parent has to face this as for the child a lot needs to be done.

  • Dakey - 2012-06-18 10:44

  • fiona.r.marnce - 2012-06-18 10:45

      maria.mothupi - 2012-06-18 11:14

Just imagine a small girl raped 3 times.LOrd have mercy in this world.I think people crazy. They don't care with the cry of a baby.LORD help.

  • sphiwe.dlangalala - 2012-06-18 10:49

And yet we as the citizens we choose to be upset when it suits us right. This is a serious issue in SA where children are becoming targets of racism, hatred and immorality but when its certain races its prompted by social problems, but when its our own race the death penality is suitable? Which one is it honestly do we want to move forward and have our country restored to its moral standards where we all can feel safe and proud of being South African's or we just turn a blind eye and chose to react when it suits us. Comments like these bellow are needed on a daily bases, peoples voices and emphasise to pressure our system and make our governement realise we see the wrong their doing to this coutry.

  • max.maxwell - 2012-06-18 10:59

The poor child is only 5 yrs old and has been raped 3 times already? WHERE THE HELL ARE THE SOCIAL WELFARE PEOPLE? AND THE POLICE? An absolute disgrace! Why was she not in a place of safety?

      sharon.truebodyvice - 2012-06-18 13:52

To little people go into social work because they cant afford to, the pay is very little and they can be called out at anytime night or day. I know there are a few people who do social work and should be called saints. In the end you also need to look after your family and if you are women alone how do you go out and leave your children alone ....between a rock and a hard place for people who want to do it as a calling

  • promise.hlako - 2012-06-18 11:00

aowa hle! Is this true or the parents are just in business!

  • frans.vanderpoll - 2012-06-18 11:00

First things first - this is sick. These monster should be send to the Kruger Nat. Park for the lions to feed on. Can I get a job as a reporter at News24 - was there actually a case against this girl? \r\n'The first rape case against her, in December 2010, was reportedly provisionally withdrawn'

We need more fathers to raise our sons to be men -- no man could ever even think of such...5 years old???!! This is very sad...FATHERS, PLEASE!!!

      sharon.truebodyvice - 2012-06-18 13:55

I agree but raise them by being an example to your son and treat your wife with respect and she must do the same with you, your children will be much better off in that way

  • SM1012 - 2012-06-18 11:06

As for me...I have three lovely daughters and story of this nature make me ANGRY. I will definitely make their entire Life miserable...SA Justice is failing us...I tend to agree now it's about time DEATH PENALTY come in to place.

  • Sivuyile - 2012-06-18 11:08

  • Sivuyile - 2012-06-18 11:11

Not the ANCWL, those ladies are still tired from all the marching they did about the painting.

      sharon.truebodyvice - 2012-06-18 13:57

ANCWL is a farce man all they do is make sure they get revenue to buy more food and t/shirts.........they mean absolutely nothing in this world

  • Carla - 2012-06-18 11:17

Oh my word!!!! first instance was in 2010 and the guy still isn't behin bars??? No "man" would rape a child. These things are monsters. At this point, I actually cannot think up a punishment for these bastards that would be harsh enough. This little child will never be able to forget what has been done to her. Have to ask though, how can the child's parents/guardians be ok with leaving a 3 year old with a 13 year old? Wouldn't it have made more sense to take the child along to the funeral?

      Tony - 2012-06-19 00:27

leaving a child of 5 to walk alone after she has already been raped twice. They should also be charged for neglect.

  • ayesha.fataar - 2012-06-18 11:19

Hang the bastards!!! They don't deserve to live..

  • lawson.lutchman - 2012-06-18 11:20

Cry beloved country cry, for even if you wept blood, it was not dry the tears of the innocent...

  • ian.vanjaarsveld - 2012-06-18 11:23

What a terrible, terrible story. My heart bleeds for this poor little child. How can we possibly allow this to happen to such a small child, we as a nation must bear this shame and therefore we as a nation must do everything to stamp out such a disgusting crime against our children and our women. Social services must get millions of banners printed that are posted in all public places, bars, taverns, trains and train stations, buses and bus stations, advertising boards around sport stadiums, along highways etc etc that criminalises the rape of our children and women. Give us decals for our cars and taxis that spell out that this crime is unacceptable to everyone of us, we must raise this heinous act to our conscience level, it must be in our face at all times no matter where we go so that we are all permanently vigilant.

  • Vic - 2012-06-18 11:26

Raped for the 3rd time & no conviction. This country doesn't a have justice for the poor. People should start practising their own justice in such cases just like Khayelitsha in CT.

  • clintsiren - 2012-06-18 11:27

You know whats sad?, is that there is more effort put into fighting about a painting by government then there is for this kinda subhuman behaviour. Words will not fix this, Action will!

  • pete.moore.12 - 2012-06-18 11:31

This is so messed up, poor child. It breaks my heart, this is why we need the death penalty back in SA. There is no fear amongst these dogs. I wish I could cut their faces off with a butter knife!

  • Jacqui - 2012-06-18 11:31

It's coming to the point where I am afraid to read the paper on Monday because I just know rape is going to be in the news again.

  • Nazli Williams - 2012-06-18 11:33

I have to cry for this little girl. How can one child be so miserably and shamelessly failed by her parents and the government at the same time, by getting raped THREE times since 2010? HOW??!! Jesus Christ, you have to do something about EVERYONE who failed this little girl! Where's her Mother?! Where's her father?! Why has she been raped 3 times before, with her rapists outside today, just to be raped again? Where's the government?!She's 5, raped 3 times since 3 years of age. You should all be ashamed of yourselves! Sometimes i hate this f*ing country!!! God, please make it stop. Please make men STOP raping our children and please stop giving babies to mothers who cant keep them safe!!!

  • Johnadam209 - 2012-06-18 11:33

What the heck is wrong with people raping girls in SOUTH AFRICA! Please the leader do something about this........ :(

  • Maria - 2012-06-18 11:39

You know in South Africa, as long as you are not a Zuma, Mbeki, etc - you just a poor citizen - no name brand I mean - you can feel it!!! I feel sorry for that poor child and parents - Where are the women's league in this case because they are so quick in marching when it's the President's spear??? (painting).

  • Muhammad - 2012-06-18 11:40

These rapist need to be castrated, their feet cut off so they can't walk, their hands cut off so they can't touch, their eyes burned out with a blowtorch so they can't see and their tongues cut off so they can't speak. Drill holes in their bodies with a house drill for good measure. They should wake up every morning wishing they were dead. At the same time have no ability to take their own lives. They should suffer.

  • raymond.kok3 - 2012-06-18 11:43

once again Lim po po death penalty for all rapists please can we have a referandem on the death penalty
