Johannesburg - A 9-year-old girl drowned in a swimming
pool in Turffontein, Johannesburg, on Thursday afternoon, emergency services
said.
The girl drowned in the pool around 15:00, spokesperson
Robert Mulaudzi said.
"The parents of the girl rushed the girl to a nearby
fire station in Turffontein, were she was confirmed dead on arrival."
Mulaudzi urged parents to make sure their children were
supervised while swimming.
"We also want to advise parents to make sure that
the swimming pool is secured while not in use by... a safety net and fence
around the swimming pool with a locked gate," he said.
