Girl kept captive, raped for 3 months

2012-07-24 07:50

Johannesburg - A man who allegedly repeatedly raped a 15-year-old girl while keeping her captive for over three months was arrested on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The 25-year-old was expected to appear in the Newcastle Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, spokesman Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.

The girl, from Madadeni, Newcastle, was abducted on March 29, and taken to Chesterville, in Durban, about 350km away.

She was drugged and repeatedly raped. She escaped when her captor let his guard slip.

The girl was receiving trauma counselling.

ah put him in jail and throw away the key , better still the noose

      jack.oosthuysen - 2012-07-24 08:04

Put him in jail and burn the place, with Kotze Steyn and all other sexually disorientated rapists and killers.

      sean.carbutt - 2012-07-24 08:14

Is this what humanity is coming too? Shame what a sad state of affairs that a so called "man" has to resort to raping teenagers. If it were my choice, I would neuter this sick, weak, pathetic person and let him rot in jail with NO possibility of appeal. Zooma, we need capital crimes punishment back.

Death will be to kind. Let him suffer, and make it a long long suffering.

      Matthew - 2012-07-24 08:42

@Michael.Kleber.376: You see mate, the problem with putting him into Jail is that then he stays there, free food, free bed and all at the expense of tax payers =/ Dont get me wrong,i'm sure he'll do his rounds (fresh meat to the inmates) but overall,he should just be hanged. Murderers and Rapists should all be hanged.Bring back the death penalty.only way to get through to animals like this

      Jellyarse - 2012-07-25 06:40

Sorry, but this is just another part of the SA Syndrome - what else should you do but follow the example of your leaders who rape, pillage, steal and plunder what is not rightfully theirs? These Leaders have told them it's all right to sit at home surviving on your hand-outs and ill-gotten gains, take what is not rightfully yours and Rape at will. Just don't forget to have a shower afterwards!

Agree completely. This guy tortured the little girl for 3 whole months, there is no excuse on earth for what he's done.

These are the kind of crimes that occurs every weekend, this shows how venerable kids become after consuming alcohol and taking drugs, what society are we creating.

      skootzie - 2012-07-24 09:46

What do alcohol and drugs have to do with this?

      gail.hayesbean - 2012-07-24 16:17

Skootzie, re-read the article. He kept her drugged for three months. Now as to how she was not reported missing for those three months and where she went missing from we can only speculate which achieves nothing. We know nothing about the girl - simply that she escaped. One hopes that the drugs used will not leave her with an addiction problem. Was she a head of a household due to deceased family? Lots of questions and no answers.

      skootzie - 2012-07-25 16:32

My question has to do with what Serame said; unless I misinterpreted the comment it would appear that Serame is blaming the girl for what happened by assuming that she took drugs and alcohol and thereby made herself vulnerable. The statement is made with a finality to it, as if Serame has already decided that the girl was on drugs/alcohol and, by extension, that it's her own fault this happened to her. Serame cannot, in any way, make such a statement because nothing is known about this girls habits; thus my query as to what alcohol and drugs have to do with what happened to her.

This man is beyond correction. Our constitution is good, but it fails us in circumstances like this.In short, he does not deserve to live another day.

      hein.huyser - 2012-07-25 07:57

I share your centiments, but do you realy want this current government to have the right of deciding who lives and dies? A whole lot of other things must first be in place before we can trust a government with these issues

  • - 2012-07-24 08:06

I am truly at a loss for words, after all the success we as a nation have had over the week-end to now read all these articles is just beyond words but I am going to try and put this the best I can. I don't believe the death penalty is suitable for this type of man, that is letting them off too easy. What I suggest we as a nation should do is round them up take them into the desert pour honey over their genitals, and let a army of red ants loose on them, but we need to make sure the F@CKERS don't die and keep nursing them back to health just so we can watch them suffer as they did their victims. (And I really am sorry about the language but I have had more than I can take of seeing our woman suffer like this)

      steve.ritchie.739 - 2012-07-24 08:40

Agreed bradley. Abusers of women and children should be dealt with in the harshest manner. So let's not even consider the human rights issue in this case. By doing what he did to a teenager (still a child legally), he violated the girls rights in the worst possible way. In my book, he just voided his rights. I like the bee thing!

      riotousr - 2012-07-24 08:54

      Suggestion thirded.

      delish7564 - 2012-07-24 10:13

Couldn't agree more Bradley. Also this Human Rights issue is being abused. Don't know if anyone saw the article but in the States a teenager passed out with alcohol (drink may or may not have been spiked) and was then raped by other teenagers. They videoed the whole thing and put it out in the ether. They made a deal and part of it was that their names couldn't be released, however, she gave up her anonymity and came out and named them, now she us facing jail for doing so!!!! All this talk of Human Rights makes me sick. What about her's? So it's OK for them to commit this crime, receive a very lenient sentence (another failure in justice for her) and remain anonymous but the whole world can see her details in the most degrading way and she isn't allowed to speak out? In my opinion, if anyone commits this kind of act, regardless of age, they should be named, shamed and as you say, punished in a really slow, painful way but not one that will kill. I know this was slightly off at a tangent but in both cases these girls' had their rights violated in the worst possible way and will have the scars for years to come, meanwhile for these scum the punishment will never fit the crime. The Justice System fails these girls in a big way and in the case of the girl in the States, the Judge was a woman! My heart goes out to this poor girl and all who are abused. May you find peace and one day meet someone who will restore your faith in all the good guys who are out there.

As for the rapist, let him rot in jail forever, I will gladly pay my taxes if these sub-humans are removed from society forever.

What is our world coming into mara, this is reaching a point where couples would opt to bring to the world a boy child as the girl child is not protected nor safe is this country. A point where our girl children will be tought self defence from the age of 4 and learn to carry whatever tool might protect them, when it comes to raping and killing our kids, mothers and sister i say bring back the death penalty and not by lethal injection, burn the bastards to feel every pain deserved. Lord forgive me but enough is enough

      william.letsong.5 - 2012-07-24 08:38

Although I agree with you somehow, I would like to remind you that it is not only girls who are in danger in this country. Each and person is due to poor police work. Crime is not gender bound, it can happen to anyone but politicians family and relatives. We can shout our throats out for the death penalty, politicians will continue to tell us the same old nonsense about the \right to life\ line in our constitution because their families are protected 24hrs a day.

      lerato.motshana - 2012-07-24 09:28

I do agree with you William but our girl are more vulnerable, although i dream of a country that panick at the sight of a police officer, i also pray for a country that not only our sloppy government or learders respect the right to life but also our people, lets save lives not destroy them whether boy or girl.

      delish7564 - 2012-07-24 10:27

I wouldn't necessarily say the death penalty would be the best solution but how about, instead of animals being used in experiments, we use these lowlifes, then at least the results would be accurate and there would be no doubt as to the effect on other humans, if you can call these "things" human. If they suffer along the way, oh well, perhaps they should have thought about that before they committed their brutal act!

      hein.huyser - 2012-07-25 08:10

@Lerato, the best form of self defense is to use the ballot box.

  • gertzm - 2012-07-24 08:23

      gungets.tuft - 2012-07-24 08:47

Because this is not a sex crime - it is a crime of violence, using sexual assault as the weapon. This is why castrating the thing will not help, it will then resort to other types of violence.

  • - 2012-07-24 08:25

  • rob.baggaley - 2012-07-24 08:26

What goes through this kind of persons mind ? Too many " sickos " in this country and the world for that matter. It will never end. Tomorrow it will be someone else's turn & we will still be repeating the same sentiments that are expressed daily on these forums. At least the death penalty would bring some sort of closure if not a deterent. Long jail terms certainly dont appear to deter these sick types from murdering & raping.

      Bless Boswell - 2012-07-24 13:56

That is a question I have asked many times. The perpetrators seem not to think of consequence. perhaps they think that because the law is so soft on crime, it doesn't matter if they are caught - they won't sit for long - if at all.

  • michelle.breedtcrafford - 2012-07-24 08:39

It seems unlikely to think that when you open a newspaper or go online to read the news that there will be no sexual offences with minors if just for one day...We have become a country it seems where this is the norm, innocent children being left to fend for themselves as government just doesn’t give a damn…It is very sad and disturbing that there is not examples being made out of these offenders but rather that their identities be protected, they receive minor jail sentences and before you know it they have the get out of jail free card. I sometimes wonder what our politicians would have done was it one of their sons or daughters. This is really sick…an innocent life ruined so very unfair. I wish this girl all the best for her road to recovery.

  • riotousr - 2012-07-24 08:41

Demonstrating how relentlessly good we are as animals. The family on the other hand should have raised the alarm when she was nowhere to be seen for 24 hours. The animal could not catch someone its own size and just went for a 15 year old vulnerable little girl. It's people like this that should be freed into the hands of an equally animalistically angry mob. South Africa has a good record where the mob has saved the police and justice systems a great deal of hours and a couple of thousand rands.
