Gunmen open fire at ANC meeting

2012-09-27 10:11

Durban - Three ANC members were wounded when gunmen opened fire at random during a branch executive committee meeting in Welbedacht, near Chatsworth, in Durban, the party's KwaZulu-Natal branch said on Thursday.

Provincial ANC spokesperson Senzo Mkhize said branch chairperson Mbuzeni Ximba, deputy branch chairperson Sbu Mpanza and ward committee member Bulelani Mjoli were shot on Wednesday night.

Colonel Vincent Mdunge confirmed the shooting, at Imbaliyethu High School, and said the motive was not known at this stage.

The men were in critical, but stable conditions in hospital. One of them was shot in the leg. It was not clear where the other two were wounded.

Is this not why Apartheid came about in the first place..? An extreme situation warrants extreme solutions... The only extra-vocabulary language they could muster was not the written language, it was the language of violence. Piet Retief was an extremely enlightened individual (for his time) - he approached Dingane to negotiate peaceful coexistence, Dingane insidiously deceived him and in cowardice murdered him, him party and his 13 year old son (brutally impaled while he was made to watch). It was the day it became clear to white Africans what kind of monster they share their land with. Andries Tatane, Marikana, panga-wielding mobs that tell their employers they will kill them in public, wild shoot-outs at ANC meetings, etc. The spiral of violence will soon be out of control. And at the center of the this VORTEX OF VIOLENCE sits the ANC - an entity that simply cannot govern a country.

2zbunu, Ha, ha, ha, ha - you have obviously not heard about the ANC's torture camps in Angola. It was set up with the sole purpose by the ANC to torture and kill its own - it the way they 'manage' their subjects on the ground. Why do you not ask your king Jacob Zuma about it - he was one of the lead protagonists, in the torture and killing of his own; why do you think he refused to appear at the TRC hearings..? It is staggering how uninformed and naive the average black South African is...

The future ramifications of this are not good. Incidents like this can escalate and lead to retaliation. Somewhere along the line innocents will get hurt.

      markdoubleu - 2012-09-27 11:13

Shanna, your casual disregard for human life based on political affiliation is deeply unsettling. I do not approve, at all, of the way the ANC is run, and I'm by no means a supporter. Violence, however, is not the answer to the conundrum that the ANC poses. It is to be abhorred, and certainly not celebrated as you seem to be doing.

      LouisJohannesMyburgh - 2012-09-27 11:55

@markdoubleu I find it very rich that you made a comment like that. Where was the concern when the ANC was fighting for the struggle. How many lives were lost during that episode. Your very leaders that were involved with that struggle and murdered innocent people to accomplish what you have today. This is a very sad day for us people that had to endure the political nonsense of the past and to still have the same outcome today. As long as there is continuous blaming and demanding of entitlement SA will never come out of this ever growing hole that we are digging for ourselves.

      markdoubleu - 2012-09-27 15:45

Louis, when the ANC were fighting 'for'(really?) the struggle, I was an ignorant, indoctrinated teenager. Also, I believe I made it clear that I'm not an ANC supporter. But my political affiliations (or lack of) aside, I expressed disapproval at Shanna's apparent approval of violence. The amount of dislikes my comment has garnered is every bit as disturbing as her (now removed) comment. Let me make this clear. I disapprove of violence. This is not filtered by race, religion or political affiliation. I don't believe anyone should be subjected to violence. I do wish that the faceless 'voters' would speak up and, as you have, tell my why, exactly, they disapprove of my disapproving of violence rather than hiding behind a vote button.

      LouisJohannesMyburgh - 2012-09-28 12:32

@Markdoubleu I think we share the same view then. We as youngsters were forced into believing what was believed to be politically correct from both sides of the playing field. It is time for a leading party that has no recourse from the past to take its place( will be dam difficult). I think that this would be the only way to have a truly democratic ruling government. I have never approved of violence and never will. Just setting the record right on that.

Its unfortunate we busy looking for earthly solutions bt we wnt find it. Whats gona happen is that SA being the pillar of Africa will crumble financially leading to all nations struggling like Spain, greece u name a few. Then New World Order follows. That time we all stuck to certain conditions. Those equiping themselves spiritual shall be safe as God shall protect them. SUNDAY law as the day of rest shall be passed too.
