Hijack: Kohler Barnard praises cops

2012-10-03 13:01

Durban - DA shadow police minister Dianne Kohler Barnard was full of praise for the police for their quick response after her son was hijacked on Tuesday night.

Kohler Barnard tweeted: “My son just hijacked outside my house NUR55847 - silver Audi A5-4 armed men. Tracker on it Morningside, Durban with red BMW contact me now.”

Within half an hour of posting the tweet, she told The Witness that the car had been found in Bonela.

“I’m so impressed. Within 10 minutes, the police arrived here, and working with Tracker, they found my son’s car in Bonela.”

She said four armed men took her son Peter Barnard, 24, a martial arts expert, out of the vehicle outside her house, and made him lie down on the ground. He was unhurt.

“The police really did an amazing job,” she said, adding that she was going to join Tracker and the police to go to Bonela, where the car was found.

She added that they would not be able to touch the car as the police needed to dust if for the suspects’ fingerprints.

“I want these men behind bars,” she said.

      What is she wearing?! - 2012-10-03 15:05

95% of Hijackings dont end as smooth as this one, in another hijacking the driver got shot in the face and he was cooperative. These dark things moves in packs, mostly heavily armed and mostly attacks the old and defenseless, these barbaric things also have no respect for life, they enjoy it brutal cause their minds are dark and evil.

Good work SAPS. Unfortunately Madam, these bastards won't stay behind bars for long - that's just the way it is in Africa.

  • cathy.dejongh.5 - 2012-10-03 13:38

Probably because she is DA shadow police minister lol

      ken.grimblegrumble - 2012-10-03 14:18

Actually Cathy I think you are right. I'm a DA supporter. Considering her high profile I'm sure the police put in a little extra effort. Hats off to SAP and thank goodness the boy is OK. Wish that all SA victims had the same level of service irrespective of who they are.

      richard.hipkin - 2012-10-03 14:40

Um no, it's because he had Tracker installed... duh.

      cathy.dejongh.5 - 2012-10-03 15:41

thumbs up to TRACKER, the police would have been useless in this story if it wasnt for TRACKER

  • jeremy.thewasp - 2012-10-03 13:46

Take them behind a sand dune, shoot them execution style and throw them in the ocean for the Sharks... Then...they can't ever hijack again!!!

"Peter Barnard, 24, a martial arts expert". Why didn't he give them some karate chops?

      edward.d.beesley - 2012-10-03 15:30

      It was a gunfight ...

Her son drives an Audi A5 but she jealous of Anc officials when they drive such cars, i bet she lives in a mansion. She's no different from Malema...preach abt how others are looting money while they also have their hands on the gravy train. I bet her son has a top position in the DA. - 2012-10-03 16:35

Her son is not in government so I doubt he bought the car with tax payers money.

      bless.boswell - 2012-10-04 08:34

Not everybody cares about driving the flashiest car or wearing the larniest watch and clothes. Many of us are only too grateful to own a car that's running and paid for and to have clothes on our backs. If people in government concerned themselves less with "having" and more with "giving" South Africa would be a better place.
