Pietermaritzburg - A Hilton woman on Wednesday described her terrifying ordeal after she was hijacked, bound, gagged and stabbed outside the gate of her home on Tuesday.

The woman, who asked not to be named for fear of victimisation by her attackers, said she was returning to her home in Dennis Shepstone Drive from dropping her son at school on Tuesday morning when three men attacked her.

According to the woman, when she got out of her car to close her driveway gate three men, armed with what she described as homemade guns, jumped out of the bushes and ran towards her.

“I started screaming for help. They told me to shut up or they would kill me,” she said.

The men cornered the woman and tied her hands and feet with wire before sticking masking tape over her mouth.

One of the men stabbed the woman in the leg with a knife.

“They were not wearing masks but it all happened so quickly that I cannot remember what they looked like,” she said.

The woman managed to undo the wire tied around her legs and ran to the out-building of her home to get help.

The three men made off with her vehicle, a silver Hyundai Accent.

“It was very scary. They obviously must have been watching me for a while and knew my routine,” she said.

Pietermaritzburg police spokesperson Mthokozisi Ngobese said the car has not been recovered and no arrests have been made but investigations are continuing.
