Hospital boss faces statutory rape charge

Mahikeng - A North West hospital CEO and his friend were expected to appear in the Taung Magistrate's Court next week on charges of statutory rape, North West police said on Friday.

The 37-year-old CEO and his 31-year-old friend, an employee of the Taung municipality, were arrested in October after allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old minor on the 23rd of that month, said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane.

"It is alleged that [the CEO] who was having an affair with the 15-year-old minor, attended a party with her. He then had sexual intercourse with the victim and asked his friend to transport the victim home," said Ngubane.

He said on the way home, the friend also had sexual intercourse with the girl, and she later told her sister what had happened.

The sister reported the matter to the police and the two men were arrested.

Last month, the two men appeared in the Taung Magistrate's Court where the CEO was granted bail of R1 000 and his friend was denied bail.

The case was postponed to Tuesday, February 7.

How is it possible that people employed in positions of trust can be so morally bankrupt?

      what world micheal? your world?

Lol why am i even suprised, what these teen girls get up to nawadys stories like these dont come as much of a shock.

      germini23 - 2012-02-03 13:01

what worries me is the fact she actually had intercourse with the two men... might have misunderstood this but she was willing and wasn't forced. It is only deemed as rape in this article because is under the age of consent..

      TaniaSandraSteyn - 2012-02-03 13:13

She could have been drunk or drugged, Lumko.

      Keikantseng - 2012-02-03 14:58

How come the CEO was granted bail for exactly the same offence as the friend whose bail application was declined?

      lindz.kok - 2012-02-03 14:16

yes micheal, so in your opinion it is okey to sleep with children of any age as long as they dont put up a fight? you are the worthless rubish we need to rid this country of!

      Keikantseng - 2012-02-03 15:01

      Statutory rape

      Leendert - 2012-02-03 22:37

@lindz.kok - What on earth are you doing slating Michael?? YOU asked the question, he gave the anser. Nowhere does he say he agrees with it or anything but as per my other comment, that is the only conclusion we can draw from yet another badly written article: friend raped, CEO had consent of some sort. Guess explaining this to you makes me a monster also??

      carpejugulim - 2012-02-04 07:48

Leendert it doesn't say that the friend raped either. Like I said, same charge ... Statutory Rape, the girl is a minor, under the age of 16 and therefore in the eyes of the law still a child. It does not matter whether it was consensual or not it is still Statutory Rape. Besides ... what the hell is a 37 year old CEO doing having an affair with and shagging a CHILD!!! Having an affair indicates (by normal standards) that he is either married or already in a long term relationship.

Affirmative action appointee? If so, another example of the wrong kind of person being selected because of colour and not merit. Need more examples?Read the news.

      lindz.kok - 2012-02-03 14:02

      i second that

  • Leendert - 2012-02-03 13:49

Presumably the 'friend' wasn't merely accused of Statutory, else wouldn't he also have been released on bail of 10 pizzas??? CEO and bail of R1000?!?!?!?

  • Keikantseng - 2012-02-03 15:08

37 & 31yr olds with a 15yr old...we call these young girls forgettin they are still babies. Grown up men should knw better, finish & klaar

  • Henry - 2012-02-03 15:44

Where are the parents of this child? I whould be concerned if my 15year old daughter was going to a party with someone twice her age. What could they possibly have in common?

  • Johan - 2012-02-04 06:21

Like animals, they just cannot control their needs.
