'I was sold as a sex slave at 13'

2012-06-12 11:05

Bloemfontein - A young woman has told how she was sold to a Nigerian and forced into a life of prostitution at the age of 13.

reported that the woman, who was not identified, had now been saved from a life on the streets by volunteers from Hadassa, a project affiliated to a local church, which is reaching out to city sex workers.

She told how she had been a pupil at Batho Primary School when an older girl lured her to a place where she was sold to a Nigerian man who took her to Bloemfontein and forced her into becoming a prostitute.

She spent eight years as a sex worker, contracting HIV and becoming addicted to alcohol and crack cocaine.

She said she was told to bring R1 000 home each night or else she was viciously assaulted with clothes irons and broken bottles, amongst others. She still had the scars from these beatings.

Church volunteers found her father, who is now supporting her financially. She is also receiving counselling and treatment for her drug addiction.

      Schmee - 2012-06-12 12:12

Clearly there is a demand for their 'product'. If there were no demand then they wouldn't feel the need to supply.

      Zukile - 2012-06-12 14:34

because the so called diplomatic ties are actually tiying even our law enforcers to just seat and watch.

  • Kefilwe Tina Dinah Keineetse - 2012-06-12 14:52

there is something i find a bit off about this story...she was sold by an older girl? and where was the father then? had it been the parents that sold her maybe yes i could understand and feel something but lets not forget that these kids of today like material things too much. she was probably introduced by the older girl yes, then went willingly and could not go back coz she was in too deep and is now crying sex slave! the father should have also moved mountains to find her.

      phumlane.mambane.3 - 2012-06-12 15:04

  • Clayton Richard Delport - 2012-06-12 16:02

Oh my, this is such a waste of time, like there is No telephones to call your family..... You got caught doing what you where doing, you want a hand out now, I feel no sympathy... And to all you racist trolls, eat sht, Nigerians have just as much right to be here aswell as the blacks whites Indians and all decent foreigners, it's you bloody criminals who don't need, our country is better than most, because we care enough to look after human beings! Stop generalizing whole nations due to individual rotten people, and if a 13 year old doesn't know how to use a telephone, then there's something wrong with the standard of education,

      Clayton Richard Delport - 2012-06-12 16:05

The world, let alone our country would be a better place if people just realize we're human beings and not heartless drones set to there way of life

      Jack - 2012-06-12 19:45

Replying to your own comment is a sign of insanity, LOL.

      ethel.motlhamme - 2012-06-12 20:30

Where do nigerians get those rights from? They a the most CRUEL foreigners I've ever met. It is true that all POOR nigerians a in SA. Our Government must b serious with the deportation. I know that it is deporting them but let them speed up the process. NXA

      Clayton Richard Delport - 2012-06-13 07:42

@ jack your reply was a sign of stupidity,my iPhone posted the first section by its self, then I filled in the rest and posted instead of starting a new post.... Try again buddy

      Clayton Richard Delport - 2012-06-13 07:44

@ Ethel it's called human rights and the day you stop generalizing nations the better you would be, first the whites then the Nigerians then the Indians ect.... It's pretty lame how you spew your racist banter all over

  • milksopr1 - 2012-06-12 21:44
