Johannesburg – Images have emerged about a car crash involving Suspended Gauteng Hawks boss Major General Shadrack Sibiya, according to reports.

The Star reported on Friday that Sibiya was involved in a car accident in Sandton on Tuesday, but both provincial police spokesperson Kay Makhubela and Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar have denied the incident.

According to the newspaper Sibiya, currently the subject of an internal disciplinary hearing, is reportedly recovering at his home after being involved in the alleged accident in Sandton at 02:00 on Tuesday.

Eyewitness News has published images of Sibiya’s vehicle, which was reportedly damaged after he rolled the car.

According to a police memo, Sibiya was treated at Sandton Medi-Clinic, while his advocate, Victor Nkhwashu, a passenger in the accident, was treated for whiplash after Sibiya’s BMW "rolled a number of times".

Earlier this month, acting Hawks head Berning Ntlemeza reportedly launched an appeal against a court order declaring Sibiya's suspension illegal, News24 reported.

Ntlemeza reportedly wants the suspended Hawks boss to be charged with kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice.

The North Gauteng High Court, meanwhile, dismissed an application by Sibiya to halt an internal disciplinary hearing.
