Johannesburg - Johannesburg metro police said on Tuesday that a man linked to a total of 16 crimes had been arrested in Roodepoort.

Chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar said: "He was arrested after a tip-off."

The man, who was believed to be in his twenties, was linked to various crimes, including murder, 11 cases of theft from a vehicle, business robbery and of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Some of the crimes were as recent as this year, while others dated back to 2002.

He will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
