Jub Jub gets high-profile lawyer

2012-11-28 16:14

Johannesburg - Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye has secured the services of high-profile lawyer Rudi Krause.

Krause defended Bees Roux, the Blue Bulls rugby player who received a suspended sentence following the death of Tshwane metro police officer Ntshimane Mogale.

Maarohanye's spokesperson, Cino Shearer, said they changed lawyers "due to the fact that the current lawyer which we have appointed has more experience in dealing with Schedule 6 offences, which is what Maarohanye is facing".

Maarohanye and his co-accused, Themba Tshabalala, were found guilty on four counts of murder and two of attempted murder.

They will be sentenced on Friday.

Shearer said Maarohanye was hoping Krause would get him a lighter sentence.

"As the court records have indicated, it was Thabalala’s car that bumped the school children and not his car."

He must try anything he wants! the outcome will be the same. Lock him away and throw away the keys. He doesn't deserve to live after what he did...

He can bring out the big guns, but he still won't win the war. Just get yourself Vaseline and accept your fate.

      PrettyUsefulArt - 2012-11-28 17:02

The least he can do is man-up. Sheesh. Children died because he broke the law. No matter how good his legal team, the stain of his lack of remorse will forever blight him in the eyes of us, the people. There's some justice in that, at least.

  • rowan.maulson - 2012-11-28 16:19

*mutter* this lawyer better just sit back and let this cretin get the sentence he deserves.

There is people actually going to bed hungry. Who does not even have a grain of sugar. That wonders how they going to feed their families.

This pathetic arrogant c**t should've dropped the lies and pleaded guilty from the beginning and showed some sympathy to the families. Alot of time and money would've been saved and he would've been better off. He wouldn't have needed a high profile lawyer for that.

So u can commit a crime ( murder ) and get a good lawyer and still walk away with it, in other words jails in south africa are meant for the poor. If he gets away with it, then the law of this country is an a.....

  • hendrick.selolo - 2012-11-28 17:10

Too little, too late. No lawyer can save you from getting jail sentence. Its just waste of your last cash.

  • vivian.harris.73 - 2012-11-28 17:25

Why pay all that money? Just fake an illness and get out of jail the others that had terminal illnesses and are walking around free.

  • nkanyiso.dlamini.7 - 2012-11-28 17:30

Every man has a right to fight with the last breath that he has, even thou in this case I don't think it wise, but jub jub still has time to use what ever resorces he still has, yes he deserve to go to jail, but is he acountable for the death of the kids, or he is accountable for speeding and driving under the influence, this is what we must look at not the end result but the events leading to it.

      thabo.manganye - 2012-11-28 18:49

Dude if you drink, get drunk , drive a car and run over 5 innocent walking from school, do we have to consider that u were drunk and not charge u for the death of the five kids, u will be accountable for everything and if I were the judge I will have to charge you with drinking and driving , negligence and then murder giving you a total of 100yrs behind bars because you not worth being in the society with other humans you are a menace to society

  • sid.swanepoel - 2012-11-28 17:33

Remember that it was not intended, or pre-planned, hence the word: ACCIDENT. I agree that he should be punished accordingly, as parents must come to terms with the loss of their children, and he did break the law whilst doing it...however, you could accidentally knock down a pedestrian tomorrow, unintentionally, and I'd bet your perception about the accused would change. I am not defending him..simply stating that more than 1 of us have been in a position that could have resulted in a similar don't be too judgmental until you have cleared yourself of any such reckless your lifetime...Yes, I am a parent.

      paul.stanley.5621 - 2012-11-28 17:52

Hi Sid, some of what you are saying is true, and if in this case they were sober, not speeding, driving in a reckless manner or not driving on the wrong side of the road, I would say that the court should go easy on them. However, this is not the case, they were high on drugs, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road (at least one of them was) and were driving in a reckless manner. They had no consideration for the rights of others, they totaly ignored the law, and for that reaso they should get the maximum penalty that they could receive. I am a parent, and if it was my child that was killed, I would expect nothing less than the maximum sentance. They have not shown any remorse, and in fact have tried to deny that that had done any wrong. If this was an accident then I am sure they would not be in as much trouble as they are, but doing what they did was paramount to murder of those innocent kids. Hope that makes you think a bit more.

      thabo.manganye - 2012-11-28 18:42

He was drag racing, high on drugs and you still have the energy to call it an accident , accidents happen but we don't have to tolerate it when humans think their money will get them out of any wrong doing, Jub Jub must pay the price.

      yandisa.madikananondonga - 2012-11-28 18:59

Causing another person's death by drinking and driving is not an accident, it's a crime, a very violent crime and it should be punished for like any murder.

Then I will pay you R 1m and walk away a free man. Will you be happy? If you say NO, then shut your pie hole and support the grieving families in this matter. If you say YES, you are the lowest and most despicable scum alive on the planet, that will trade the life of a child for money. I honestly dont understand it. Everytime the shyte hits the fan they get a white lawyer. Even the Prez does that. What is the sense of BEE if you dont brief the high profile black lawyers?

      samuelbowker - 2012-11-29 00:14

Interesting view Kensong. But who educated the whiteys? Did some aliens come down from the magic skies and bless us with knowledge, or perhaps God himself felt it time for such gifts? We educated ourselves you moron. As your ancestors might have done for you in another dimension. But they didn't. Blame them rather.

      tiaan.vanderberg.75 - 2012-11-29 11:53

Kensong, You miss the point that I am trying to make. What I am trying to say is that if business does not appoint PDI s they are racist and dont want to acknowledge that there are black people who are capable of doingbthe job. But black peolple themselves dont want to put their trust in their own people. You wont convince me that there are not capable black people with equal abilities than Rudi Krause. I coincidentally know many of them. I remind myself that the call from the cadres was that Bees Roux was a racist and that justice was not served. But now his lawyer is suddenly the right man for the job. Even the Prez got himself an SC Kemp J Kemp. What is the Prez saying? We are all for BEE but when Im in the shyte ill rather make use of a white counsel. Are you gonna tell me that there arnt any competent black advocates in this country, because that is far from the truth. Two weeks ago when the NPA took the Sunday times to court, who of the litterally hundreds of advocates did they brief? Jaap Cilliers. I can go on and on. I am not saying that there arnt competent black lawyers, to the contrary I believe there are many. But my question is why dont you brief them. Surely that would be the highest form of a vote of confidence in yourself. Practicing what you preach or is this a tacit acknowledgement that when the heat is up a different set of rules apply? Lastly dont blame me because my ancestors helped me more than yours helped you.
