Johannesburg - The High Court in Pretoria ordered the correctional services department to establish a new parole board to consider the parole of Christoff Becker, one of the so-called Waterkloof Four, Beeld reported on Saturday.

Beeld reported that acting Judge Japie Maritz gave the department 14 days to put together a new parole board to decide if Becker should get parole and whether his parole conditions should be amended.

Maritz set aside the parole board's decision in February revoking Becker's parole.

He said the department had 14 days to put together a new parole board that did not contain the same members as the previous board.

"The new board must then reconsider the cancellation of parole and decide about the possible amendment of parole," Maritz was quoted as saying.

Becker and Frikkie du Preez's parole was revoked when a video emerged of the pair allegedly drinking alcohol and using a cellphone at the Kgosi Mampuru prison.

The Waterkloof Four - Du Preez, Becker, Gert van Schalkwyk and Reinach Tiedt - were released on bail on 11 February after being jailed for beating a homeless man to death in Pretoria in 2001.

Becker and Du Preez were sent back to prison on 28 February.
