Just 7 municipalities get clean audit

2011-06-29 13:12

Pretoria - Only seven municipalities out of the country's 237 received a clean audit for the 2009/10 financial year, Auditor General Terence Nombembe announced on Wednesday.

A total of 57 municipalities had improved audits compared to the previous financial year, he told the National Press Club in Pretoria.

Those that received clean audit reports are the Ehlanzi district municipality, the Steve Tshwete and Victor Khanye municipalities (all three in Mpumalanga), the City of Cape Town, Metsweding (Gauteng), Frances Baard (Northern Cape) and the local municipality of Fetakgomo (Limpopo).

Fifteen municipalities had audit reports in the 2009/10 financial year that were worse than in the previous year.

Municipalities in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal had shown the greatest improvement.

In the 2008/09 financial year only three municipalities received unqualified audit reports.

And we have yet to see heads rolling. I'm sure the freedom fighters and old National Party war horses are turning in their graves.

      Jacques Smit - 2011-06-29 13:48

I wish we had people who actually cared about what's right instead of enriching themselves...not the right people, fire them! Rather unqualified or dumb people being paid to do a mediocre job than someone not doing their job or stealing money. Really sad! Stolen money means that people can't be paid to do proper jobs, even if they could, and it also means that we can't appoint people in government that can do the job...

      Carl Muller - 2011-06-29 13:49

I also stole......just a bit less and gave some service delivery....

  • Spinnie - 2011-06-29 13:24

Can someone please shove this report under Zuma's nose. Oh yeah.... all talk and no walk from the pres.

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 14:09

But Zuma was the one that said on national TV that the City Of Cape Town should never have received accolades for service delivery. He said that the people giving him feedback were giving him incorrect information... No Mr President, you are fabricating your own information, the City Of Cape Town left all other municipalities in its wake. The length that our president will go to discredit actual good performance just breeds racism!

      Bloodbane - 2011-06-29 14:39

@Mbuso -probably has something to do with the ability to actually do something. see just because they are a BEE company does not mean they have any skills at all to do anything. this is the problem BEE companies get tenders and wasting money because they can not deliver. rather give it to companies that can do the job? or are you so corrupt you cant fathom that logic?

      Derrick - 2011-06-29 14:41

@Mbuso. I'd believe the auditors who said only 7 of clean as opposed to you who's all opinionated. Am i'm sure so will most world business owners.

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 14:42

@Mbuso The best the ANC can try and label as "corruption" in the City Of Cape Town is the bicycle lanes that were "constructed". These lanes are merely painted lines on already existing roads... The reason the withdraw tenders is because the initial promises made by the BEE company are false or misleading. Notice how there is service delivery in Cape Town? It is because if the people cannot do the job they lose the contract. Sounds logical to me, but not logical to racist blacks like yourself. For places to function efficiently you have to actually work for the money you are paid, obviously a principle you dont understand.

      Kenno - 2011-06-29 15:23

@Mbuso. They PASSED their audit in Cape Town DEAL WITH IT!! I bet if Cape Town was ANC run (Firstly , it wouldn't have passed) there would be no comments from you!

      boerekanon - 2011-06-29 15:52

@Mbuso, you are just one of the thousands of sheep out there who follow blindly and believe everything the government and ANC tells you. About time not only BEE companies win tenders.

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 16:28

Well said Mbuso, ignore @ssholes like Robnob, they are 20 years behind. They think Western Cape is a Volkstad

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 16:45

Not even the non-white population of CT will vote for the ANC, even they like having their potholes fixed. Bring as much racism as you want into the conversation, all the people of the Western Cape want is service delivery...if that means we are being racist because the ANC cannot deliver then so be it. We are not at fault for the "ANC" being synonymous "Black People" and with corruption and ZERO service delivery. It just hurts you people so much to see that a white lady beat you.

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 16:58

Robnot, what do you know about service delivery, have you ever gone outside your high walls and see what the life of our people was when you were governing this Country and what is now. Go beyond what you're fed by the media and take a tour and talk to people. The fact that over 60% of the population still vote for the ANC means they are satisfied. There were black people in the olden days who were happy with the apartheid regime, some like Matanzima even went to the UK and US to defend apartheid so its no surprising that ppl in WC could chose to align with your likes

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 17:04

There's a VERY GOOD reason we call it "The Good Old Days"...

  • JakibZoomer - 2011-06-29 13:27

Interesting that the city of Cape Town had a clean audit. It is the only city that did... Run by the DA, coincidence?? I think not.

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 14:04

Is it the only DA Municipality in the country?

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 14:05

Is it the only DA Municipality in the country?

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 14:16

DA - 2/5 ANC - 5/232 You do the maths @myancmyfutur (if you can)

      PSquare - 2011-06-29 14:40

@Robnob Are you assuming the only parties running municipalities are the ANC and the DA...LOL What about the coalitions, IFP, Independents? In any case I see only one DA run municipality in that list - Cape Town. What about the rest in the Western Cape and Midvaal?

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 14:52

@PSquare Ja those stats were just guestimates, but am pretty sure they aren't far off the truth. Not too interested in the minor parties, in my opinion we should only have an option to vote for the 2 major parties come voting time. Then there wont be any ruined or wasted votes. The DA only held about 3 municipalities until the recent election in the Western Cape, so again 1/5 is still 20% opposed to the 6/232 = 2%

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 15:24

@Robnob, your guestimates are actualy very far from the truth, Can someone call the AG's office and ask if these audits are as a result of maladministration or corruption by the ANC in areas like Midvaal

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 15:52

According to which information @myancmyfutur? The stuff u read on the paper u whipe your @ss with in uncovered toilets? Get your head out of the Midvaal, as proven in the election you and your people are not welcome there.

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 16:19

@Robnob, dicmknob, whatever your name is, am trying to feed something to your empty head and that not all municipalities who failed audits are corrupt or is as a result of corrupt activities(Incl Midvaal or any ANC or IFP Council). Secondly get your racist thick skull together there are no more boundaries in SA there's no such thing a people not welcomed in Midvaal. Who ever said white people are smarter knows now that He was wrong when he see idiots like you

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 16:45

I'm surprised Robnot that you talk about inteleectually capabilities, go through all your posts and gauge yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 you will see that you are between nil and zero. I think you fall under blonde apes in that category

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 17:02

Now you have resorted to spell checks, I wonder if you can write my language

  • Protest - 2011-06-29 13:28

How many of them are ANC governed?

      Kevin King - 2011-06-29 13:41

@ Protest: I'm afraid the trolls won't give you that answer cause they don't comment on stories like these. Maybe if the article read "Only one of two DA municipalities get clean audit"...

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 14:06

I dont see Midvaal on that list

      Protest - 2011-06-29 14:07

It actually was a rhetorical question. ;)

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 14:14

We all know that performance criteria that applies to DA run municipalities doesn't apply to ANC run municipalities. Like most universities "DA Supporters" require a higher aggregate than "ANC Supporters" to be granted access to their facilities and granted the right to study there.

      Protest - 2011-06-29 14:24

@myancmyfutur: That is an understatement. There are 230 municipalities that are not visible on the list. How many of the 230 are DA governed? (Again a rhetorical question!)

      Bloodbane - 2011-06-29 14:40

@myancmyfutur fogive my ignorance, but did the DA only just recently take over midvaal from the corupt ANC, it will take time to sort out all the issue's the criminal ANC left.

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 14:56

@Bloodbane - Unfortunately no, the DA held the Midvaal(Meyerton)area prior to these elections.

  • Mlu - 2011-06-29 13:38

  • Slapper - 2011-06-29 13:41

Another story of the ongoing incompetence that we live with. Amazing that one can confidently predict that this time next year, nothing will have changed (for the Better)

  • Richie - 2011-06-29 13:43

Bad audit - okay lets try again next year... mmmm, not good enough again... don’t worry... WTF? If people are stealing / "mis-managing funds they should go to jail ... no questions asked!!! ANC would rather sideways promote / redeploy these thieves. Accountability does not exist, but what do you expect from a party run at the top by thieves and tenderpreneurs like Zuma & Malema. NOT MUCH!

      Protest - 2011-06-29 14:06

Makes you wonder how many "ANC Officials" suspended without pay, and simply forgotten about...............

  • Jacques Smit - 2011-06-29 13:45

And why is this not surprising...self enrichment and expensive cars and personal expenses going through govenment...who cares? Right? There is nothing to be afraid of when not doing your job if you are in government. Waste money, no problem! Drive cars that not even the president owns himself, no problem! Put personal expenses through government and use taxpayers money, the bit that wasn't 'stolen', no problem! Who checks anyway?

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 14:09

Did the AG mention any of the challenges you've listed or you have inside info on the Audits. Until we have all the facts we rather keep quite because it may not be due to corrupt practices but things like poor filing.

      Bloodbane - 2011-06-29 14:42

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 15:19

@ Bloodbane, excuse me for interrupting your laughter, I only see the city of CT under the DA, what about the rest like Midvaal? Not having a clean audit in Midvaal or any of the nearly 20 DA Municipalities nor the 10 plus IFP Municipalities in the KZN doesn't mean they're corrupt. WAKE UP. Its such that you're so overly obsessed with the ANC

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 15:54

For uneducated near retards like @myancmyfutur all of these statistics refer to audits for the 09/10 financial year, not post 2011 elections! Get back in the tree and leave the reading for the educated.

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 16:24

What are you on about now little idiot? Not all black people are uneducated Robnob, what does my post say about elections or that's when you woke up.

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 16:37

Just because you went to school does not mean you are educated @myacn(f&%ked up)myfutur, your weak ramblings on this forum are proof that you fall well within that category.

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 16:48

  • panafricanis - 2011-06-29 13:48

at least the ANC government produces the financial statements unlike the former governments....surely when you are aware of the weakness you can only improve

      Kevin King - 2011-06-29 13:56

@ Pan: Are you saying that the ANC has produced financials 17 years and can only get clean reports in 2.5% of the municipalities? Then for 16 years it has produced financials and then for the 17th year there is an improvement in 24%? I eagerly await your ingenious response!!!

      theprodigy - 2011-06-29 13:58

the problem with you lot is that when finally do wake up, its too late

      Jbird - 2011-06-29 14:19

panafricanis is that the best argument that you can come up with. NP steal 10% build 90% any african country steal 90% build 10%

@panaficanis what planet are you on,this happens every year with your beloved ANC thieves.

      Robnob - 2011-06-29 14:34

@panafricanis is on an ARV fuelled "high" that the majority of the SA population experience on a daily basis.

      Bloodbane - 2011-06-29 14:43

@panafricanis - conveniently after the elections.... since we knoew this beofre the election, but the masses that voted didnt it's a bit mute. whats the bet that by this time next election the only thing that will have changed is the DA will have a better record, and the ANC a worse one.

      myancmyfutur - 2011-06-29 15:21

I wonder what would have happened if all the DA Councils had clean Audit

Can you please axplain to me the advantages of nationalisation as i may just be missing the good side of it?

  • Kevin King - 2011-06-29 13:58
