Durban - A man linked to the murder of an elderly brother and sister will appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The 27-year-old had been charged with double murder and a theft charge would be added, spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge said on Thursday.

He allegedly killed Crystal Roberts, 72, in her house in Greenwood Park in Durban on Monday. A relative found her body. She had been strangled and stabbed and the house ransacked.

A laptop, cellphone and a vehicle were taken, Colonel Jay Naicker said on Wednesday.

Her brother was found dead in a Durban hotel, also on Monday.

Preliminary reports indicated Dennis Roberts had been strangled, he said.

Naicker said the alleged killer was caught in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday morning.
